Brian Molko was born in Belgium to an American father (a banker) and a Scottish mother (a christian!).Brian also has a brother who is 10 years older than him,called Barry. Brians family moved to Luxembourg shortly after Brian was born. This is where Brian spent his school days and met Stefan Olsdal. Both Bri and Stef went to the same American school in Luxembourg but they didnt really speak much, as Stefan was popular and, um, Brian wasnt!
After leaving school,Brian moved to London to study drama at Goldsmiths college. It was on his 16th birthday he first heard Sonic Youth and he fell in love with the music. Whilst in London,Brian and a female friend bumped into Stefan Olsdal at a train station. Stefan didnt really want to talk to Brian but they swapped phone numbers anyway. Brian was playing guitar and singing in local pubs at the time, so he invited Stefan to come and see him play. Brain played at a pub called Round The Bend and Stefan watched him. After that, Stefan said they should form a band.
First of all, they got a drummer from another band called Breed. He was Steve Hewitt. He drummed on Placebo's demos but had to leave because of Breed. Steve's replacement was a friend of Stefan's, Robert Schultzberg. He played on their first album but he didnt get on with Brian. Steve's band had split up so he came back!!! Yay for Steve!!!
