It all begins in the year 0015 when a force known as the "mother" Dark Bring, Sinclaire, threatened the world. Shiba, the first Rave Master attempted to destroy it with his sword, the Ten-Powers Sword The resulting explosion, known as "Overdrive", destroyed one-tenth of the known world, and at the time it was largely unexplored. The "Holy Bring" or "RAVE", named after its creator using Etherion, Resha Valentine, using the first and last letters of her first and last name, which was used to power the ultimate form of The Ten-Powers Sword was shattered in Overdrive, dividing Rave into five pieces. Shiba was able to hold onto the piece that was required to power the sword at all, but the remaining pieces were scattered across the world. However, Shiba was unable to destroy the Sinclaire, and only succeeded in damaging it.

Fifty years later, Haru Glory, a teenager living on the peaceful Garage Island discovers a strange creature with a small white body, dot-like eyes, and a huge drill-like nose while fishing. He names it "Shabutaro" at first until he encounters Shiba, who corrects Haru by calling the creature "Plue". Shiba explains that Plue is actually his companion and also a Rave Warrior, bearer of the rave.

Soon, Feber, a member of Demon Card, an organization that is attempting use the Dark Bring to take over the world, finds Shiba and demands that he hand over the Rave. Shiba refuses and tries to retaliate by using the Rave's power. It fails and Shiba is quickly injured by Feber's giant arm cannon. Shiba hands Haru the Rave and tells him to run away. Haru refuses and tries to help Shiba. With Rave clutched in his fist, he punches Feber. To everyone's surprise, Haru manages to unleash the Rave's power with this punch, defeating Feber with an explosion. Seeing this, Shiba realizes that Haru has been chosen by the Rave to become the second generation Rave Master. Thus begins Haru's search for the other pieces of Rave and his quest to defeat the Demon Card.

• Haru Glory: The current Rave Master. He lived with his sister, Cattleya Glory on Garage Island. Haru is a teenage boy who believes in justice and peace, yet doesn't have much interest in adventuring. His destiny takes a turn when Shiba gives him the Rave stone, passing on the powers of the Rave Master. When he realizes the true threat that Demon Card are to the world, he sets off to find the pieces of Rave to restore peace to the world. As the story progresses, Haru develops strong feelings for Elie and becomes extremely protective of her. He doesn't kill most of his opponents due to his pacifist nature except Doryu.

• Elie: A girl with no memories, she first encountered Haru at the Casino in Hip Hop Town, and finally met him at a dog racetrack where she was gambling. She ends up joining him in his search after he saves her. She fights with Tonfa-style guns that have an explosive effect and has a striking resemblance to Resha Valentine, the prodigy who gave her life using the power of Ethelion within her to create the Rave and the Ravestones. (Rave's name is a derivative of her name; ReshA ValentinE.) Elie possesses Ethelion, but since she didn't know how to control it, it was sealed by Haru to prevent it from destroying the world.

• Hamrion Musica (Hedara Musica in the English dub): The leader of a band of infamous thieves known as the Silver-Rhythm gang. He owns and pilots a flying ship called the Advent. Musica is a "Silver Claimer", able to manipulate anything silver into any form he wants it to be. The skull necklace he wears, called Silver, is his main weapon since he can reshape it. He can reform Silver into almost any kind of weapon or tool he needs. He became Haru's good and strongest friend, helping him in his search for the Rave Stones, while searching himself for the Silver Ray, a small ship-shaped weapon of great power.

In the Japanese version, the Silver Claimer is Silver Cleaver.

• Plue: The strange creature that Haru discovered while fishing (no one quite knows what he is; Elie says he's an insect, Cattleya says dog), Plue is the Rave Bearer, and is able to sense the presence of the other Rave Stones. Plue's nose also has the ability to destroy Dark Brings. Plue is quite fond of sweets - especially lollipops. Plue hates pudding, the reason being that before he met Haru, Griff, himself and an island of bizarre creatures were under attack by a band of creatures that looked like men but had pudding heads. (There is a full account at the end of Manga Volume 6.) He has the ability to utilize the Rave of Conflict which powers both Haru and himself up. He also has the ability to stop wounds and injuries from progressing, but can only halting them, not cure or heal them (See Volume 1, page 136, English version). Plue, though named "Nicola", is in the author,s future work, FairyTail, where he can be summoned by Lucy.
• Griffon Kato: Called Griff by his friends, he constantly praises Plue. The reason for this is because before he met Haru, Plue ended up on Griff's island home, when it was under attack by the Puddingheads (which is also why Plue has a strange dislike of pudding). Plue defeated the villains in what seemed a noble sacrifice. Griff declared himself as Plue's follower as a result. He is also very perverse, often taking whatever opportunity he can to catch Elie naked. He acts as the groups navigator and has a strange horse-type thing pulling his cart called Tanchimo, whose head spins abnormally fast. While he sleeps, he floats in midair, can talk and still seems conscious of his surroundings. He can also change his shape in a multitude of ways and can only be killed at the specific time of 6:30.
• Let: A non-human (although he looks like one) from the Demon World, he is in fact from the dragon race. While he is a part of Demon Card at first, Let is inspired by the words Haru says and decides to join. He has a rivalry with Jegan as they both like Julia.
• Julia: The somewhat loud and out-going girlfriend of Let, she is the polar opposite of her mostly calm and serious boyfriend. She was turned into a black dragon and controlled by Jegan, but Let saves her. Her martial arts skills seems very impressive. Similar to Let, she seems to look up to Haru, even though she's 21 and Haru's only 17. Her attitude seems somewhat similar to Musica's. She has predictable bad habits, such as sleeping when she gets a good chance, getting too drunk at parties, etc. She has strong beliefs that women can do anything.
• Bellnika (alternative- Veronica): A girl Musica's age who joins Haru's side after he saves her from the Blue Guardians Leader, Hardner. She is a sweet girl who is starting to improve her magical powers.
• Celia: A mermaid whom the group met on their journey, she falls obsessively in love with Haru. However, he doesn't feel the same way and Celia soon realizes that Haru and Elie's connection to each other is deep, exemplified by the way he hears Elie calling his name even though they aren't together.
• King: Also known as "Gale Raregroove", former leader of the "Demon Card" organization. He was Gale Glory's partner when they decided to fight against demons who were attacking cities. After sometime and internal problems, Glory left the "Demon Card" and King started to collect little "Dark Brings". Later he would meet Gale Glory again and that would result on the death of his wife, imprisonment of his son (Lucia Raregroove, which King though was dead), and Glory's wife. After "cursing" Glory with a mysterious "Dark Bring", he vanishes to unknown places and reforms "Demon Card".
• Gale Glory: Haru's father. He founded the "Demon Card" with Gale Raregroove and left the organization due to internal problems. After he learned that the "Demon Card" were spreading terror around the world, he came back to the "Demon Card" HQ, where King welcomed him back. However Glory told King to shut the Demon Card down. Raregroove wouldn't take this easily and threatened Glory's life. Glory then alerted the city's military and asked them to "only ARREST King". The city's military however, exploded the whole Demon Card HQ, resulting on the death of King's, giving creation to his hatred for Glory. King escaped from jail using his "Dark Brings", killed Glory's wife and cursed him with the "End Of Earth" Dark Bring, which would make Glory scared, giving him reasons not to get close to anyone ever again. Years later, Glory finally found King's location at the Jin Tower, and would try to put a stop on the "Demon Card". He battled King and with the help of his son, Haru Glory, King was defeated. The Jin Tower suffered from this battle and was collapsing. In order to protect his son Haru, Glory sacrificed himself, and would appear on Haru's dreams later on.
• Lucia Raregroove: He is Haru's sworn enemy. While Haru is the RAVE Master, Lucia is the Dark Bring Master, son of Gale Raregroove. Lucia was present on the day the military destroyed the first "Demon Card" HQ. King though he was dead like his wife, but Lucia was arrested in secret and was still alive. After many years in jail, "protected" by the "Mother Dark Bring", he escaped from jail and went after a big ship to cut through the "Death Storm" and reach the Symphonia's continent (where the Overdrive happened). He took "Sigma 44" ship. [Note that Sigma 44 is of no big importance to the series, however they were referred as "gods of war" by Musica and Let. Rushia had to take on all 44 of them at the same time while he was supposedly unarmed.] Once on Symphonia, he met Haru and presented himself as the Dark Bring Master. He acquired information on the location of the other 4 Sinclaire Dark Brings. Lucia then kissed Elie, what would power-up and free the power of the Etherium she has. Then he walked away to the "Demon Card" new HQ. There, the "Oracion Seis", the top six warriors of the Demon Card met him. They decided to proclaim Lucia as their new king, and gave him the "Decalogues" sword, which was his father's sword. This was marked as the "Demon Card Revival".
