2006 Summary |
Well, 2006 went by rather quickly. Panic! At The Disco becomes the third artist to have a #1 song of the year on the Modern Rock Top 50 chart. I Write Sins Not Tragedies only ruled the chart for one week in April, but it stayed on the chart for 34 weeks, 15 in the top 10 and 23 in the top 20. Panic! At The Disco also had the #15 and #40 songs of the year. Coming in at the #2 year-end spot is Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. It topped the chart for two weeks in October and stayed on for a total of 30, 11 in the top 10 and 17 in the top 20. Snow Patrol also had the #19 song of the year. Coming in at the #3 year-end spot is The Adventure by Angels And Airwaves. It ruled the chart for 4 weeks in May and June and stayed on the chart for 24 weeks, 10 in the top 10 and 13 in the top 20. Angels And Airwaves also had the #17 and #35 songs of the year. In the #4 year-end spot is Crazy by Gnarls Barkley. It topped the chart for two weeks in July and stayed on the chart for 23 weeks, 11 in the top 10 and 18 in the top 20. Yellowcard managed to have the #5 song of the year with Rough Landing, Holly, which topped the chart for 4 non-consecutive weeks in April and May. It stayed on the chart for 24 weeks, 11 in the top 10 and 14 in the top 20. Yellowcard also had the #39 song of the year. The #6 song of the year belongs to Hinders Lips Of An Angel. The song peaked at #2 in July and stayed on the chart for 25 weeks, 7 in the top 10 and 14 in the top 20. Evanescence has the #7 year-end song of the year with Call Me When Youre Sober. It ruled the chart for 3 weeks in September and charted for 22 weeks in 2006, 8 in the top 10 and 15 in the top 20. The All-American Rejects have the #8 song of the year with Move Along. It peaked at #1 for two weeks in March and stayed on the chart for 25 weeks, 7 in the top 10 and 11 in the top 20. They also had the #20 song of the year. Coming in at the #9 year-end spot is Paperthin Hymn by Anberlin. It ruled the chart for a total of 6 weeks and 5 weeks in 2006. It dominated the chart throughout January and at the beginning of February. It stayed on the chart for 22 weeks in 2006, 9 in the top 10 and 12 in the top 20. The Killers had the #10 song of the year with When You Were Young. It debuted at the #1 spot in July and stayed there for four weeks. It fell off the chart after 22 weeks and showed 9 weeks in the top 10 and 11 weeks in the top 20. Nickelback, Emery, Taking Back Sunday, Fall Out Boy, and Hoobastank also all had good years.
