Welcome to Mountain Orchard Academy!

MOA is an alternative high school at Hood River Valley High School. MOA offers students a unique learning environment where they have the opportunity to learn life skills to become more effective global citizens.

MOA is unique in 3 ways. The first is that we typically have smaller classes than the regular high school. Additionally, there are only 3 teachers who work with the students all day. Because of this, we are able to give each student a lot of attention. Students who are bright, but need extra encouragement or attention tend to thrive at MOA.

Secondly, we teach all of our classes around a theme. For example, the first quarter we are going to be studying water; in sciene the students will learn how to do stream surveys; in social studies they will learn about how water has impact civilizations through-out history; in language arts they will write personal narratives and reports around the theme of water usage. We believe that connecting the real world to our lessons is the key for student success.

Finally, at MOA we offer a credit recovery option for students who need to make up credits in order to graduate on time.
