Game #1 - Warroad 7 Fosston 5

• First round of North Sub-District 9 Legion baseball tournament

Game # 2 - TV/UH 8 A/B 6

• First round of North Sub-District 9 Legion baseball tournament The Ada American Legion team saw their season slip away at the hands of Twin Valley Ulen Hitterdal on friday as they lost their first round ball game by a final score of 8-6. Ada did score first off of a sacrifice fly from Adam Lee that scored Nathan Knudson. The lead was only temporary as TV-UH tied the game up with a run in the bottom of the 2nd. Then they would take the lead in the 3rd with a 2 run home run from Matt Bergstrom. Then Ada would answer with 3 runs in the top of the 5th. Then the bat got hot for Tyler Opsahl smashing a 3 run homer over the left field fence to take the go ahead lead for good. Game # 3 - Fosston 10 Ada/Borup 9 (Loser Out)

• The game was dominated by Fosston the first three innings. Fosston would score three in the first, three more in the second, including a 2-run HR by Aanders Johnson. Four runs would result in the third off of good base running and some hits that were placed in the gaps to get runners on. Ada/Borup didn't hang their heads. Down 10-0 at one point, they'd get one run back in the bottom of the third, a one run single by AJ Hensel to bring Nate Knudsen in. The fifth inning would get A/B another run on a double by Jeff Petrik, later to be batted in by Blake Olson, who also doubled. Three runs on four hits were made in the bottom of the sixth to get A/B within five. With bases loaded, the key to the win was made by center fielder Reed Sander. A line shot to shallow center was hit hard by Knudsen. Sander extended his arm and sprung forward to sacrifice at a chance to get the final out; which in turn if he missed, would have resulted in at least three runs...the catch was made to get Fosston out of the inning. But the offesive strike A/B was looking for in the early part of the game stayed with them in the 7th. They'd score four more runs on two more hits, bringing in two off of walks with bases loaded. The 10th batter of the inning would be Derrick Webb, who ended up flying out to center to put an end to the game, after a huge rally of 9 runs to get back into the game...just one short of tying...two shy of moving on to the next round.

Game #4 - Warroad 9 TV/UH 4

• Semi-final of North Sub-District 9 Legion baseball tournament The #1 Seed Warroad American Legion Team was primed and ready to place theirselves into the Sub-District Championship game on Sunday at their Home field. They did just that with their 9-4 victory over TV-UH on Friday night in the night cap of 4 games in the Sub-District tournament. TV-UH started off hot with a 2 run homer off of the bat of Ethan Opsahl. 2-1 was the lead after 1 inning for TV-UH but that was all that they had. Warroad would rough up TV-UH pitcher Ethan Opsahl for 7 runs in the bottom of the 2nd and that basically was the ball game. Warroad Pitcher Kyle Nowaski had the game of his life going 7 innings complete with 14 strikeouts. TV-UH added 2 more runs in the top of the 5th but that was the last gasp for them as they fell into the 3rd place matchup to be played on Sunday at 12:30 in Warroad. Tournament.  You guys and gals done 110% in hosting the tourny.  It went off like clock work, no problems, great weather and no rain.  And the food was great (in particular the sno-cones).  Thanks again, it folks like you and the way you do things that makes my job so easy and enjoyable.

Andy Hillstad had a three run home run in the first inning and Alex Jenson went 3 for 5 for the Breckenridge squad.  Jamie Jacklitch went the distance with 13 K's and 8 BB.

For Warroad Kyle Nowacki and Matt Roberts each went 2 for 3 and a run scored.

Cory Mattson of Hawley belted a three run walk-off to end the game by the 5 inning 10 run rule.  Cory also went 2 for 3 and Justin Laddusaw went 2 for 2.

In the bottom of the eighth trailing by one run Aaron Derosier was hit by pitch, Steve Morinville w/sac. bunt, Jeff Weiss doubled scoring Derosier.  Nolan Knott then singled in the winning run scoring Weiss.

Schmitz and Weiss combined for 10 K's and 6 BB.
