When you think of hardcore stealth action...who do you think
of? Solid Snake? Really? Alright but how about after that? Sam Fisher you say?
Hmmm...after that? Raiden, eh? Crap. Well, that just proves how stealthy he is,
Gabe Logan is SO stealthy, nobody even knows he exists.
Actually, that's a lie. Gabe Logan's tragic downfall lies in crappy controls in
pretty much all of his games, not to mention the last two sucking beyond all
reason. But still Syphon Filter 1 and 2 owned.
Gabe Logan's story is he is working as an operative for a major government
branch, on what seems to be a routine mission, he uncovers a deadly plot, the
Syphon Filter. Syphon Filter is a radical new virus that has startling effects.
What's worse, you find out you're working for the proprietors of this virus.
Suddenly, a routine mission to defuse a biological warfare threat, becomes a
rebellion against a corrupt government conspiracy.
Given I was only able to complete Syphon Filter 1 and 2, but from what I gather
from the demo of Omega Strain...Gabe Logan eventually gives the information to
the good politicians, and a war begins. The conspiracy lets loose the virus on
America, and Gabe Logan is put in charge of his own government organization
bent on stopping the conspirators who have wreaked havoc on the world.
Gabe Logan himself, is pretty bad ass. Gabe Logan was the agent, that couldn't
be shot 5 times with an AK and just patch himself up. Gabe Logan truly is the
original stealth operative. While Snake was running and gunning and shooting
down guards left and right in Shadow Moses, Gabe Logan was crawling through the
rafters, hiding in the shadows, and walking softly.
"Anton Girdeux, I hope Rhoemer's paying you enough to die for
him!" -Gabe Logan

Gabe Logan's Contest History
|
Win-Loss Record
0-1
Summer 2002 Contest West Division - 10 Seed
Western Round 1 --- Lost to (7) Sephiroth, 8602 [12.29%] - 61367 [87.71%] Extrapolated Strength --- 56th Place [10.66%]
Before Sam Fisher was stinking up the bracket on a yearly basis, Gabe Logan represented the generic Snake wannabe character that gave the stealth action genre a bad name in GameFAQs contests. Though in fairness, Logan's showing in Summer 2002 wasn't entirely his fault.
Logan being given a 10 seed was fair given his status, though he was stuck facing Sephiroth in the first round due to perhaps the biggest seeding atrocity of all time. Logan was nothing but fodder in the match, and he hasn't returned to the contest since. The stealth fans that are willing to nominate someone other than Solid Snake are constantly nominating Sam Fisher instead of Logan, which could be a big reason behind Logan's absence.
