Summer 2003 Analysis

Akira Yuki (Virtua Fighter series)

Who is Akira Yuki?
Akira Yuki is an assistant kung-fu instructor at a dojo and the only warrior in a generation to learn the Hakkyoku-Ken style (which SEGA based on the real-life style of Bajiquan Wu Shu). He is considered the main protagonist and the poster boy of the Virtua Fighter series. He stands 180cm tall and weighs 79kg, wearing a white gi and white headband most if not all of the time. Training a lot is the extent of his character; he is a dull, dull man.

You couldn't play a Virtua Fighter game properly if your life depended on it. I'm serious. You are going to get your dumb ass killed in like ten seconds flat. Go home.

"Honki no tatakau misetemorauze! ("I will show you my true strength!")" -Akira Yuki

Akira Yuki's Contest History
Win-Loss Record
0-1

Summer 2002 Contest
East Division - 10 Seed

Eastern Round 1 --- Lost to (7) Knuckles the Echidna, 12057 [19.44%] - 49964 [80.56%]
Extrapolated Strength --- 55th Place [10.76%]

There were strong fighting game characters in Summer 2002, average fighting game characters in Summer 2002, and weak fighting game characters in Summer 2002.

And below that last level lies Akira Yuki, whose claim to fame in contests is being the first character not to break 20% in a match. Granted this was on the 15th day and characters would eventually go on to break his futility record with ease, but solely in terms of fighting game characters, Akira may be the weakest from the genre to ever make it into a GameFAQs contest. Terry Bogard may be lower in the stats, but he's stuck behind the Mario/DK SFF that was never accounted for.

Will a fighting game character weaker than Akiri ever see a slot in a contest bracket?
