Scholarships For Winning Teams

Well after trying to figure out how to get more scholarships out into the High Schools in the names of our fallen heroes we have come up with a perfect idea...at least I think it is perfect. smile

The winning teams from each age group will be awarded a $500 scholarship to give to the High School of their choice in the name of the Fallen Hero of their choice.  This scholarship will be given from the SSG Keith "Matt" Maupin Baseball Scholarship Fund and will continue our goal of remembering all the fallen heroes from the surrounding area.  We hope that you will find this as exciting as we do.  We wont be leaving out the second place teams either.  They will recieve a $250 scholarship as well.

As you all know we have other fund raising going on during the tournament.  All of this is to help get more funds for the scholarships.  The more money we raise the more we can give away in scholarships, which is our goal.

My goal also is not to collect from just you the baseball teams, the parents or the grand parents, we want to make this an event that the community as a whole will come out and support.   We are knocking around some ideas to do just this.  A thank you to the teams as well as a way to get the community involved as well.

I will post more on these events as the time get closer and the ideas are set in stone, so to speak.

Thank you to everyone for your support and Till They All Come Home...God Speed!

Well we have started with meeting, meetings and more meetings.  This is the first of many that we will have to work out all the details of the 4th Annual Tournament.  I hope that us getting the info out there sooner this year will bring in a great showing of teams.

We have come up with our Slogan...I guess you could say...dont know the word I am looking for.  But we are going with.....Drum Role....

A Celebration Of Heroes!

We hope that you all come to celebrate with us as we honor all of our local heroes.

This should be fun

Well I thought that this year I would do something different.  I will let you know in real time what is going on with the tournament.  As well as how much work there is in getting this tournament together...just another way to let you come along for the ride.  I will also let you know what is going on with the Yellow Ribbon Center as well a any an new information that you need to know...and even some you dont need to know...LOL.

So I guess I will let you know that we are working on getting our dates and field locations.  We are hoping to be back bigger and better next year.  All indicators point to that.  I hope all of you that have been in the tournament before will come back ans support us again.  We gave away alot of scholarships this year, we are proud to say.  Keith Maupin helped present those.  And I hope to know that alot of the kids that got those will continue to honor Matts name as they go on to college.  Which I know they will.

The Yellow Ribbon Center (YRC) host alot of events.  They have a facebook site that I encourage you to go to and be alerted to events.

Meetings this next week to look at sites to hold the tournament, alot of people are excited about hosting the tournament.  Which is more than I can say about the other fields we once played.  It is incouraging that not everyone is only out for the money.

I would like to thank the City of Loveland, my hometown, for letting us host the tournament there this year.  Scott Schleshner was a great help.  Scott has alot to handle with his son Cole recovering from an accident where he was hit with a line drive on the pitchers mound.  Cole is doing well and I was lucky enough to meet him during the tournament.  Good Luck to Cole and I hope to see you play soon!!

Also thanks to Billy Boston and his team and parents who were up at the crack of dawn working on fields after the dreaded "R" word hit us, to make the fields playable.  As well as 3peating as tournament champs.

Keep up with me as this will be fun and then some...LOL

Thanks again for everyones support...Till we blog again!
