Modder Interview

Mod Name: Doom Door
Author: Oldie
Type: Adventure
Requirements: Tribunal
Description: What is the secret behind the mysterious Doom Door and who is the equally mysterious Telvanni Mage so intimately connected with it? Meant for Level 20, or higher, characters, this mod will take you on an adventure to a new Drow City on Vvardenfell and through dungeons, mystical islands and a full-scale "military style" battle in which the magnificient Moon Armour appears. Not for the faint-at-heart, although brawn alone will not be sufficient to succeed. Brains and lock-picking skills (up to level 50) are also essential.
This mod requires the Tribunal expansion to Morrowind to be installed. It requires nothing else, is compatible with Bloodmoon, and can be run with most other mods. However, if you have any of the following five mods installed, it is advisable to "uncheck" these under the game data files, to avoid possible "ghosting" while playing "Doom_Door": (i) "Ghostpath" by Ascendant, (ii) "Castlevania" by The Dark Man, (iii) "Puzzle Canal" by Shanthe, (iv) "The Magus Unending" by Davion The Mad, (v) "Children of the Night Part 2" by JB.
Background:
This mod is based on the "adventure" style that is characterised by "Children of the Night Part 2 " by JB, although very different from it. It came about from my wish to "give the Drow a chance" in Morrowind and to permit them to "blend in with Morrowind lore" despite originally being a D & D creation. The Drow race used in the mod is the original creation of Bethaliz; their weapons and armour are the extensions created by QBH. Their "Drow City", no longer of the "D & D archetype" is based on an underground city created by Ascendant. Their "House" (a "civilized" sect of the Drow) is my invention, as are the principal characters.
Five of my favourite mods not only had to find place, but posed a natural "background" and are therefore incorporated: "Castlevania", "Puzzle Canal", "The Magus Unending", "Children of the Night Part 2 - the Island of Akavir" and "Attack on Ynys Mon" (by Lightwave). My sincere appreciation to these mod creators. For those who have played any of these mods, I trust you will find my alterations sufficient to maintain your interest in "Doom_Door" without having detracted from their originality. For those who have not yet played any of them, I hope this exposure will encourage you to try out the "originals".
The "game" ends with an "Easter-Egg" which, hopefully, ties everything together.
A word regarding "detail". The thrust of this mod is "adventure". It was not my intention to improve on, in my opinion, excellent work already done before me. And there was never any intention to be meticulous. Why do the female Drow guards wear greaves with codpieces? Why shouldn't they wear male greaves? Why do the Drow have empty book-cases? Do you really expect them to find time to read? Why do some of the Drow have a black band around their neck? Because they have a black band around their neck! And, finally, if you find it strange to get away with sleeping in someone else's bed in Drow City, remember, the Drow don't mind sharing their beds!

Mod Name: Concept Exterior Abode (Update)
Author: Cjad the Nord
Type: Buildings
Requirements: None
Description: The Concept Exterior Abode is a castle-house that has no interior cell, it's all completely in an exterior. However, unlike most mods that tried this, the CEA is perfectly furnished and definatly more home like. However, seeing as how the whole castle is literally built with individual stones and planks, it might be a big FPS killer. There is a very inclusive readme that takes you through installing and playing the mod, as well as other useful information. Enjoy...

Mod Name: Laura Croft's Leopard Outfit
Author: Emma
Type: Clothing
Requirements: None
Description: The leopard/golden leather outfit was originally created for my Laura Craft Romance and Adventure ver 2.0 mod. In this separate mod, I have added two cuirasses, one helmet, greaves and gauntlets. The outfit is located in Vivec, at the Foreign Quarter canton. You'll find it in a crate just to the left of the bridge that leads you from the canton to the mainland. Please note that you will have some clipping issues, especially with the gloves/gauntlets, if you are using Better Bodies mod.
My special thanks to CanadianIce for helping me to sort out the trickier parts of how to use different body parts.

Mod Name: Wizbang's Clothing and Armor Randomizer
Author: Wizbang
Type: Clothing
Requirements: None
Description: This mod radomizes just about all clothing and some armor on all NPCs in Morrowind. If a certain NPC is of a certain great house is wearing clothing related to that house, they will not have that article of clothing randomized. The same goes for armor. This way a high ranking member of House Telvanni will never be wearing a House Redoran shirt. In the case of armor, every NPC with a piece of randomized armor will have a random piece of armor applying to the same weight type and generally the same quality type.

Mod Name: Continuum - Creature Lairs, Proof of Concept
Author: Arsonide
Type: Creatures
Requirements: None
Description: What's a Lair?
If you've ever played Star Wars Galaxies, you know all about creature lairs. Well now I've added them to Morrowind. Basically, a creature lair is the home of a creature (a mound of dirt, a thicket, a pile of rocks, etc) When you attack it, nearby animals will defend their lair, and some will actually come out of the lair to defend it. These are now sparsely spread across Vvardenfell.

Ok...so what about the mod?
However I can't model, and I need some models for the lairs (thickets, dirt piles, etc...) Since nobody was taking my modelling requests that seriously, I thought I'd release a proof of concept to show my work off and appeal to a modeller. Right now all of the lairs look like a massive heart, to make them easily distinguishable, but they act exactly as they should act, they just look funny.

Gritty Details
Right now aggressive creatures will actively defend their lair when they come out, but passive creatures (like scribs) won't. I'm not sure if I will change this or not, but for now...it's not in this version. Also, not all the creatures I planned to make lairs, will make lairs in this version. That's on purpose so you will download the full one. Right now these creatures create lairs in the wild:

Anything is possible, in fact I was planning on setting it up so that there would be a messagebox pop up when you activated a lair, sometimes you could dig for eggs or other organic materials, and more importantly, sometimes it will invoke this random map generator I found, and you will actually go inside the lair. That's all on the backburner right now though, as I need to just get the basics of lairdom finished. After that I can work on the fancier things. All of this is the beginning of a gigantic mod called Continuum, which is my ultimate goal to finish. I'm going to release it in modules, such as this one. The ultimate goal of Continuum is to provide a LOT more replayability in Morrowind, while being as compatible as possible. Lairs are the first step towards this goal, with other objectives including but not limited to random mission generation in guild halls. For the Iron Fist of the Law, I'll be continuing Reznods work on his prison mod, which will place criminals in a facility where they will have to work in mines, build various objects (like chairs or something), and behave to get out of prison. Or they can always break out. I do have Reznods permission to continue this, so it will be a big part of that module in Continuum. Big things are to come ladies and gents.

Author: Ben Tokkin
Type: Misc.
Requirements: None
Description: I am posting what I have so far of the mod to get your opinion whether its worth finishing, for public consumption anyways, its really under developed but I think I have enough done for you to get a good idea where the mod is heading. There are no interiors yet except the ones made already by Bethesda and a sample of the palace. Basicly this pre alpha is for you to walk around and see what you think of the new huge and improved Vivec exteriors only. If you feel the need to play around with the mod, alter it in any way by adding, subtracting, or dividing anything feel free to go ahead and do what you wish. If you decide to realese your version publicly you might want to ask permission for the models and textures I used from those that have made them.

Another .esp included will will reduce the Weight value of Orc Males from 1.35 to 1.25. A third .esp will increase the Height value of Male Wood Elves from 0.90 to 0.95, so that they better fit in with their description in Tamriel lore, and not be disadvantaged by the fact that Morrowind's engine associates movement speed with height. A fourth .esp is all three tweakes merged into one file. Please read the readme file for more information!

Mod Name: Sexy Female Orc Head
Author: Neoptolemus
Type: Misc.
Requirements: None
Description: Adds one playable female orc head and two hairstyles. I made this basically because I hate the original female orcs. They're offensively ugly. Yes, I know orcs are supposed to be ugly, but think of this gal as the exception to the rule. ;) The mesh is originally by Rhedd, and was a female Dark Elf. Aedroth added some fangs to make her a vampire, and I played with the texture in photoshop to make her an orc. An attractive orc, but still looking feral enough to be orcish. Maybe she has elf or human blood in her. I don't know.
