DiskTool version available.
This freeware disk/file management software can handle all of your most
needed tasks. Tasks such as copying, moving, renaming, linking, and
deleting files and directories.
Also includes an archive center for .tar, .gz, .tar.gz, .tgz, and .zip
file creation, inspection, and extraction.
For RedHat users, and other distributions such as Mandrake that support
RPM files, DT also includes and integrated RPM manager. The RPM center
allows you to check dependancies, view contents, view descriptions,
view
directories, and install or upgrade the package.
Xdt The X windows version
of Linux Disktool
Xdt has most of the
features
and function of the console version, but includes a new graphics
viewer.
ale (Another Linux Editor) for linux
is now available.
Ale is a freeware full screen
text editor for the Linux console or xterm environment. It is a small,
fast, and easy to use editor that does not pretend to be anything other
than a basic text editor. It can handle long line lengths and the
number
of lines it can load is limited only by the amount of free memory on
your machine.
Ale has all of the basic
features for creating, editing, and saving text files, and has a text
search feature, but it is not intended to be an IDE for programmers. It
doesn't have any features that are not needed or used for quickly
creating or editing config files or other text files.
instool
installer/uninstaller
linstall can install tar.gz packages and create uninstall files for use
later. It can also track files installed in a make install operation
and create uninstall file for those compiled packages as well.
sr A linux search
and replace utility
sr is a small, fast search and replace utility that requires no
knowledge of regular expressions. It can search or replace character
codes, words, or entire phrases. It has an interactive interface, and
can work on multiple files at a time.
umv The User
rename utility
umv renames existing users, changing their home directory and updating
all system files. It also searches the users home directory for
configuration files and changes the path information in them as well.
It keeps a log of the files changed for each user.
