OUR STORY
Our story began back in Michigan where a wrong booking to the Bahamas turned into an encounter with Destiny. Larry and Marsie Vanbuskirk were on their way to a fun filled, incentive trip on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.
Upon arrival into Freeport, Grand Bahama they were informed of where they were(wrong island) and where they needed to be. A forty minute plane ride to Nassau got them back on track. After a week of fun in the sun they returned to Freeport enroute to Michigan. With more than a seven hour lay over the Vanbuskirks decided to take a tour of their new discovery.
During the tour the taxi drive asked them the million dollar question "What is the Team?" after seeing it on a cap Larry was wearing. After explaining to her who they were and what they did she told them she had just the right person for them to meet and proceed to drive them to the office of Mr. Zhivargo Laing, former Minister of Economic Develepment for the Bahamas.
Mr. Laing was so excited about what he learned of The Team . For sometime he had been in search of an avenue whereby, he and his fellow countrymen could come together in business and make a positive impact on their country. After an exchange of numbers and addresses Larry and Marsi returned home and remained in contact with Mr. Laing. They invited Mr. Laing to a Major Event where he got a better look at the Team. He also did a thorough investigation of The Team before beginning his search for leaders to join him in this new venture.
In January 2004 Larry and Marsi returned to Freeport to assist Zhivargo in building his new team. It was at this time that the Vanbuskirks were introduced to a wild and crazy guy by the name of Jamiane Farrington and his wife Nicole. It was a tough fight, but Larry's posture allowed him to opportunity to finally plow through all the preconceived ideas Jamiane thought concerning the Team.
After two days of sleepless nights Jamiane and Nicole made up their minds that this was what they had been looking for all along. And with fire in their eyes they set out to succeed at this business. Jamiane and Nicole were crazy enough to believe Larry and do whatever he told them to do and as a result have broke records in the business.
We came up with the name Caribbean Knights one weekend while Larry was in Freeport. He said, "Jamiane you guys need to come up with a name for your team or they will stick the name "Bahama Team" to you. So we began throwing some ideas around. Then one night as I was standing on the balcony of my apartment staring at the water I looked up at the sky so clear and full of stars and said "This is such a beautiful caribbean night. It sounded so good in my ear that I shared it my wife. She then said there is more than one type of night/knight. A knight is one who is courageous, valiant, honorable and a warrior. Characteristics we are looking for in our team members. We did not want to limit ourselves to the Bahamas so we set our sights on the whole Caribbean. Thus came the name "Caribbean Knights"
Being a part of The Team has had such an astounding affect on our lives and the lives of the members of The Caribbean Knights so far, I get excited just thinking about what still lies ahead. We have seen marriages restored, dreams have been rekindled, friendships forged and hope renewed in many.
