About Us
Welcome to our site! Katie's Rescue Shelter was started for the love of my beautiful golden retriever, "Katie". I wanted to return the same love and kindness that she had so freely given me and my family by helping other homeless animals.
I began by taking in just a few homeless animals and eventually we expanded. We provide temporary shelter, medical care and much needed love for these animals which find their way into our lives. We work with no staff and have only a few volunteers that can give their time.
We mostly rescue dogs but we do have some cats from time to time. The animals we rescue are drop-offs, "throw-aways", those whose owners can no longer care for them, and many come from kill shelters and pounds. Our goal is to help these animals by giving them a little more time to find their first home. Some of our animals may be getting their second chance at finding a forever home. Since we started many years ago, we have placed countless numbers of animals into loving homes. For those that we cannot seem to find the right home for, we work with other NO-KILL shelters who provide them different opportunities for adoption.
Katies Rescue Shelter acts as a stop off point for animals of all ages, sizes, and breeds. Many of these animals would have already been destroyed had we not rescued them. We work hard each and every day trying to find suitable homes for these unwanted animals. We love each and every animal regardless of whether they are mixed breeds or pure bred. Age is of no concern to us because at times older animals make better pets for some people. Our older dogs are usually already house trained, leash broken, etc.
Katies Rescue Shelter is a NO-KILL rescue licensed as a 501(c)3 tax exempt, 509(a)2 non-profit charitable organization. We receive no federal, state or local funding and rely solely on adoption donations and the generosity of the public. Your donations are fully tax deductible and urgently needed to allow us to continue our rescue.

I started this rescue in memory of my beloved friend, Katie, and I take a moment each day to thank God for letting her be with us for as long as she was, and for allowing her to find me. I sincerely hope that everyone who visits my site will find that one very special pet who can offer them the same comfort, compassion, and love I felt with Katie who helped chase away my fears and always made me feel safe and loved.
