Super Bowl The Super Bowl is the final contest of the professional season and determines the league\'s annual champion. Currently the Super Bowl routinely finishes among the all-time top 50 programs in television ratings, and the 1994 game reached an estimated 750 million viewers around the world. Now probably the most important single-day sporting event in the United States, the Super Bowl had more modest beginnings. In 1967 the champions of the American Football League (which merged with the NFL in 1970) and the NFL met in what was called the AFL-NFL World Championship Game. The name was later shortened to Super Bowl, named after a child\'s toy, the Super Ball. In this first game, the Green Bay Packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs, 35-10. The Los Angeles Coliseum, site of the game, fell far short of a sellout, although tickets were only $10 each. In comparison, the highest ticket price at the 1994 Super Bowl reached $250, with scalpers illegally charging more than twice that much. |

As part of a continuing effort to provide more and more reference materials for About Football\'s nfl history section, another not-so-small block of information has been added. In what is just the beginning of a huge ongoing project, the rosters of every NFL team that played from 1920-1929 has been added to the library of historical resources. NFL TIcKETS This section provides the rosters of all the original NFL teams as well as those possessing some of my all-time favorite team names, like the Pottsville Maroons, Dayton Triangles, and Providence Steam Roller. |

Terrell Owens is unhappy. So what else is new? NFL TICKETS For much of his career he hasn\'t been happy about this or that. Last season, he was upset about the way the offense struggled, taking pot-shots at everyone from quarterback Jeff Garcia to the offensive line and the team\'s offensive coordiinator. NFL TICKETS During the off-season, he was upset when, after a major goof by his agent, he was traded to the instead of the team he hoped to join as a free agent... the . After much whining and threatening to never step foot in a Ravens training facility, Owens was granted his wish and he joined the team he claimed he most wanted to be with. NFL TICKETS But what appeared to be a match made in football heaven has shown signs of a very short honeymoon. Slight indications of disention first appeared when, during a recent mini-camp, Owens moaned about not touching the ball enough in practice. NFL TICKETS So what\'s got the enigmatic receiver\'s shorts in a bunch this time? Well... it\'s his shorts. More specifically, the shorts that head coach Andy Reid requires Owens to wear over his tights during practice. NFL TICKETS \"If I just have my tights on, I feel smooth, fluid, Spider-Man-like,\" he explained in the latest issue of \"The Sporting News\", which hit newsstands Wednesday. \"I have given up a lot; for me to wear tights wouldn\'t be much. At least give me a little leash. I understand having structure, and I guess that is him making a statement. I don\'t have any problem with that, but it\'s a big adjustment.\" Owens even went as far as to indicate that learning a new playbook and adjusting to new teammates was less of an adjustment than practicing with shorts on. NFL TICKETS Perhaps Reid should require Owens to stuff those shorts in his mouth rather than wear them over his tights. After all, which is more offensive? Watching Owens\' butt crack as he sprints across the field or listening to the garbage that comes out of his mouth. |
