First appearing in the very end of episode 36 in Yu Yu Hakusho 幽游白書, Jin was a member of Team Masho during the Dark Tournament. After watching Yusuke Urameshi 浦饭幽助 defeat Bakken, Jin takes a liking to him. Jin then fights and looses during the last half of episode 39 to the beginning of episode 41. He is later recruited by Kurama 藏馬 in "The Three Kings Saga" to train as a warrior for Yomi's 黄泉 aid under Genkai 幻海. Instead of a war Yusuke proposes a tournament; in which every demon may participate representing themselves. Jin enters the tournament in hopes of getting a rematch with Urameshi, but lost before reaching his goal.
T e c h n i q u e s
Jin called "The Windmaster" he specializes in wind manipulation using Bukujutsu 舞空術 so he can fly and fight freely in midair. His signature move is "Tornado Fist," a move he learned on his own during his days as a shinobi. The move is preformed by him spinning his arm and the wind picks up in a small twister from the base of his elbow up. He also doubles this attack by using both arms at once, "Double Tornado Fist." After he trained with Genkai he picked up the move "Tornado Fist Explosion" which is a much more powerful version that can even send an S class demon for a loop. Besides his youki based moves he can also throw a good punch.
P e r s o n a l i t y
Contrary to most demons Jin is very friendly. He is very playful and enjoys joking around and having a good laugh. He isn't always happy though and occasionally goes into a bad mood. He has very little tact and speaks his mind, and he also tends to be rather complimentary to people he respects. He'll be teasing to his friends, and isn't above accidentally gossiping about people though it isn't intentional because again: he's pretty tactless. He can be rather chatty when he is excited. His ears are very expressive, and they lengthen when he is in a good or anxious mood; often pointy when he is in a good fight. The ears also twitch when he is really cheerful, (they did this in his fight against Yusuke.)
T h e_ C h a r a c t e r
Jin is a demon from Makai. What kind he is isn't specified but he contains traits from both the Oni 鬼 (おに) and the Kijimuna キジムナア. He could possibly be a demon of mixed blood. His Oni traits are his tiny horn, fangs, and his strength. His Kijimuna traits are his normal skin-tone, his wild red hair, his childish face and playful nature. In the Japanese version of the anime Jin speaks with a Kansai dialect 関西弁, which suggests he is originally from Osaka. (His english dub voice used a Gaelic accent to illustrate this, as he wasn't completely comprehensible even in Japanese) Sexual orientation of Jin was never specified, though we do get the impression in the manga that three female demons (Koto, Juri and Ruka) have crushes on three fighters (Jin, Suzuki and Touya) and it seems their love wasn't returned by the boys. Most of the fandom seems to believe that Jin would be a pansexual.

After deciding not to return the shinobi job Jin stays good friends with one of the members of Team Masho, Touya凍矢 (also known as The Ice Master.) After being defeated they both become friends with two other demons defeated by Team Urameshi, Chuu 酌, a Suiken Fighting Master, and Rinku 鈴駒, the Yo-Yo master. With great respect for Yusuke Urameshi he considers him a friend. When he trains under Genkai, Shishiwakamaru 死死若丸 and Suzuka 鈴木 join his circle of friends.
F a m i l y
There is a common misconception that Jin and Yusuke are half brothers. This I will state now is not true. It was only said that they were alike, and meant by their views on being taught versus learning on their own. There is no specifications on Jin having any family members.
