| Thomas and Prudence Millward |
Thomas Lutwyche Millward was born in Birmingham on 29th November 1837,
the only son of Thomas and Ann (nee Lutwyche) who also had four
daughters. He was baptised on 28th December 1837. The
family home on the 1851, 1861 and 1871 Census returns was 13
Steward Street, Ladywood. In 1871 Thomas is described as a
silverplater. Details of Thomas' parents and siblings are below.
Prudence Tongue was born at Bentley Pauncefoot, Worcestershire in 1838,
the daughter of John and Mary Ann. She was baptised at St
Bartholomew's, Tardebigg on 23rd December. In 1861 she was in
service, along with her sister Emma in the home of a John Osbourne in
Redditch. In 1871 she was a cook to Hector Cooksey in Edgbaston. Details of Prudence's parents and siblings are below.
Thomas and Prudence were married on 4th April 1872 at Edgbaston Parish
Church. Thomas' occupation on the Marriage Certificate is given
as Silversmith. On the 1881 and 1891 Census returns they are
living at 162 Windmill Lane, Smethwick. There were no children
from their marriage.
From 1894 until 1900 a T Millward is listed as a Sidesman at St Michael's and All Angels', Smethwick.
Prudence died on 23rd December 1900 and was buried in Uplands Cemetary,
Smethwick. Thomas married an Edith Jane Holmes (born 6th Decmeber
1863) on 22nd October 1903 at Holy Trinity, Smethwick. Thomas
died on 27th August 1913 in Worcestershire and was buried with
Prudence. Edith died on 27th September 1950 at Wycombe.
