Description

The Chalice and Paten are both made of Sterling Silver and are hallmarked with the London Assay Office mark and the year letter for 1900 (used May 1900 - April 1901).  The manufacturers mark is that of Horace Woodward and Company Ltd.

The Chalice is 9.75 inches high with a cup diameter of 4 inches and weighs 23 ounces.  The base is hexagonal and 6.5 inches across at the widest point.  The inscription is on the underside of the base: "Presented to St Michael's and All Angels' Church, Smethwick by Thomas Lutwyche Millward In Memory of his devoted wife Prudence who died 23rd December 1900".

The Paten is concave in shape and 6.75 inches in diameter and weighs 10.75 ounces.  It carries the IHS monogram.

The Chalice and Paten are contained in the original free standing case, opening at the front, finished in Morocco leather.
