Local Sensei inducted ‘The World Martial Arts Hall of Fame’

Sensei, Bashaw, Mizu Tama Dojo Rochester, NH, was inducted into The World Martial Arts Hall of Fame on June 11, 2005.  A weekend filled with anticipation, seminars, tournaments, entertainment, a formal dinner, and a ceremony presenting Christopher J. Bashaw with a ‘Life Achievement Award’.

Christopher is the head instructor for the Mizu Tama Dojo and the founder of Kosho Hoho Yooga or “Old Pine Tree Method of Yoga”, a blending of Kosho Ryu Kempo and Tai Chi.  Kosho Hoho Yooga takes the traditional teachings of the Japanese Warrior monk of 1235 AD (true self-defense, healing and spiritual arts) and makes it applicable for the 21st century.

Christopher holds black belt ranking in both Shaolin Kempo Karate, Mugei-Mumei no Jitsu as well as certification in Yang style Tai Chi.   He is has also been a Registered Nurse for over 2 decades including pediatrics, military, pain care, recovery room, occupational health, drug and alcohol recovery, and rehabilitation. Over the last 20 years he has become certified as a Reiki Master/ Teacher developing his own system of Reiki, Kokoro Ryu Reiki System of Natural Healing, as well as taking vows as a Buddhist Priest, practicing western herbalism, internal and external chi kung healing, and shamanic practice. All of these healing practices, when used appropriately and consistently, have shown a remarkable and healing benefit, as does Tai Chi.

Each year ‘The World Martial Arts Hall of Fame’ offers an opportunity to the public whether or not they are martial artist who contribute unselfishly to the growth of the Martial Arts. This organization was formed for the purpose of bestowing recognition worldwide to those who make outstanding contributions, show dedication, consistently demonstrate excellence, unselfishly promote growth and prestige of the Martial Arts Way, and have given something back to their communities and the world to which they have dedicated their lives. Martial Artist come from different walks of life and practice varied styles and systems; however, one thing remains the same, all seem to share the love for the Martial Arts Way.

Students, Instructors, Masters and Grandmasters whose lives have enriched and paved the way for others to excel; while maintaining highest integrity and honor for martial arts and its future, are recognized and honored. Many contribute and strive on always forward without any recognition or asking for any means of gratuity for their sacrifices; many have traveled the path but never take time out to honor themselves. Honoree candidates are selected by ballots sent in by families, friends, instructors, and students who feel these dedicated individuals be given recognition for their dedication and contributions for growth of Martial Arts. And for discipline that has enriched lives of others.
