My Soapbox

This is for me. If you don't like this topic then get the hell off this page.

To be blunt, I come from a military family. My father Arthur, my stepfather Jim, my surrogate father Don (Navy) and now my brother serves in the Army. It pains me to think that there are those who don't understand the fight for freedom. That the war that we are in now is so important to all of us. We are not there for our health. We are not there to cause terror. We are there to preserve our freedom. It's not like Vietnam where when we left, they didn't follow us. The terrorist are in our backyard. They are here and they mean to destroy our way of life. You can't reason with them. You can't bribe them or even plead for a sense of honor or mercy. For they have no honor. They are cowards who use their religion for bad behaviour.

You may not agree and frankly I don't give a gosh darn. It's my website and this page is for me. I pray for the troops over there and it sickens me to hear the Democratic Party put them down again and again. Barack Obama
who I used to have the greatest respect for, said "We've got to get the job done there and that requires us to have enough troops so that we're not just air-raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous problems there,"
Obama said. What the frell?! Like that is what our men are going to do over there? Not only is that an insult, it's disgusting.

Does anyone else remember 911? I did. I was watching TV waiting for a call about a job interview. It devastated me like so many Americans. I can't believe that so many have forgotten that day. How can you forget that day? I never will. Be aware, be alert and stand up to them.

31 May 2001

Captain Green's family and my family were among the few who did not surrender to the Japanese Occupation Forces in the Philippines. Instead, we hid in the thick jungles and aided the guerilla units in their struggle against the Japanese.

We joined the Army together at Clark AFB, Philippines. I was sent to Fort Ord, CA, for Basic Training, while he was sent elsewhere and we lost contact. We met again when I got assigned to Fort Bragg, NC. Captain Green and Sergeant First Class Domingo R. S. Borja are my son's Godfathers.

May they both rest in peace. I miss you both.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

On 03 Aug 1967 an ambush cost Det A-245, 5th SF Grp, two men: Captain Green and SFC John N. Wickliffe of Benton, Arkansas.

THE AIRBORNE CREED

I am an AIRBORNE trooper! A paratrooper!

I jump by parachute from any plane in flight. I volunteered to do it,
knowing well the hazards of my choice.

I serve in a mighty AIRBORNE force--famed for deeds in war--
renowned for readiness in peace.
It is my pledge to uphold its honor and prestige
in all I am--in all I do.

I am an elite trooper--a sky trooper--a shock trooper--
a spearhead trooper. I blaze the way to far-flung goals--
behind, before, above the foe's front lines.

I know that I may have to fight without support for days on end.
Therefore, I keep my mind and body always fit
to do my part in any AIRBORNE task.
I am self-reliant and unafraid.
I shoot true and march fast and far.
I fight hard and excel in every art and artifice of war.

I never fail a fellow trooper.
I cherish as a sacred trust the lives of individuals with whom I serve.
Leaders have my fullest loyalty, and those I lead never find me lacking.

I have pride in the AIRBORNE! I never let it down!
In peace, I do not shrink the dullest of duty,
nor protest the toughest training.
My weapons and equipment are always combat ready.
I am neat of dress--military in courtesy--proper in conduct and behavior.

In battle, I fear no foe's ability,
nor underestimate his prowess, power and guile.
I fight him with all my might and skill--
ever alert to evade capture or escape a trap.
I never surrender, though I be the last.

My goal in peace or war is to succeed in any mission of the day--
or die, if needs be, in the try.

I belong to a proud and glorious team--
the AIRBORNE, the Army, my Country.
I am its chosen pride to fight where others may not go--
to serve them well until the final victory.

I am the trooper of the sky! I am my Nation's best!
In peace and war I never fail. Anywhere, anytime, in anything--
I AM AIRBORNE!
