Markland Community Center Recreation Committee Inc. (MCCRC) is a non-profit organization which was formed in 1981 to assist with fund raising efforts, to help run social & recreational activities for the community of Markland. Since that time MCCRC has offered some of the products of it's fundraising efforts to numerous charitable organizations. Some of these organizations include; the Tsunami fund, the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Janeway Fund, as well as local organizations such as Whitbourne Army Cadets, Whitbourne Girl Guides, & Whitbourne Elementary School and also our own community members through our 'Sickness & Berevement Funds'.
Markland Community Center Recreation Committee is comprised of 14 active volunteers at the present time. We meet monthly to plan & implement, community fundraisers and social events. Our program includes events for young and old. Our biggest fundraiser is our Annual Markland Days held in late July or early August. It gets bigger & better every year!
In 2009 we will celebrate 75 years as a community!
We are a non-profit organization so, we depend greatly on donations & sponsorship from various community businesses & organizations. We have always had great community support, it's what keeps us going strong!
We are very proud to be the official sponsor of Miss Summer Holidays Achievement Pageant. We are proud to offer a free opportunity to a young woman from our surrounding communities at a chance for scholarship funds that could be worth up to $17,000, and strive to offer our Regional Representative all that we can at this level of the competition.
