Founded in 2003 by Colene Burns, Community Youth League has impacted the lives of over 3000 students. Today, Community Youth League, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating students about volunteerism. Through meaningful service projects and its support of Youth Service America, CYL, Inc. has grown to include numerous programs that hope to motivate young Americans to recognize their individual potential.
Through CYL,Inc. Colene promotes various programs including the Shoals and Blount County CYL Essay Contests and Youth Workshops, the CYL Mentors, the CYL Classroom Project, CYL Lesson Plans and Global Youth Service Day.
With over 3500 volunteers hours, Colene was honored to be chosen as the recipient of Daily Point of Light Award #3696 and as a recipient of the Gold Level Presidential Volunteer Service Award.
Additionally, Colene has been an active volunteer for Children's Miracle Network. Colene hosted the Shoals and Blount County CMN Penny Drives and the Blount County 5K CMN Run.
