School Sussed

Feeling stressed at the prospect of exams, mountains of coursework as well as all that additional homework.  It can seem like the world is closing in on you but with your hints and tips you'll be feeling calmer and much more at ease... just breathe!

First of all despite craving freedom and time off its all about maintaing focus and reawarding yourself - setting targets and goals and then giving reawrds can make things seem less monotomous.  The secret is to start off organised, consider where your going wrong and what needs to change for example is your coursework always overdue? Are you struggling to get things done? Then setting up a time management system could help.

TIME TABLE

Setting up a time table can be a really simple way to solve a lot of hassle.  Firstly, on a piece of paper write down all the things you need to do after school this can include after school and leisure activities. For example:

  1. Homework 2 – 3 hrs.(per night)
  2. Running Club 1hr (Wednesday)
  3. Watching Neighbours at 5:30pm ( Tape it and watch it on the weekend!)
  4. Preparing for the next day, books etc (10 minutes)
  5. Tennis Club 30 minute (Friday)

You may have more or less that five things and that’s fine you can adapt this outline to suit you, you have to accept though that you may have to cut out on watching you favourite programme on television and perhaps you could tape it and then watch it when you’ve got some time.

Below is an example of what your time table could look like:

The idea of a time table is not to make you paranoid with time it’s just there to give you a routine and a guide that is good if like me you find it hard to knuckle down and do what you’re supposed to do at times.

Most of all though don't forget to have fun, and focus on the positives and try to let the negatives of school pass you by!
