Mi Re Ut

"The short octave, called mi re ut in Italian, was an arrangement designed to save space and pipes (ergo, money) in the lowest octave of organs, both in the manual and in the pedal, by omitting those keys and corresponding pipes that were deemed unnecessary or could be dispensed with."

Instruments	I am interested in musical instruments and different musical instrument tunings, and I work restoring antique pianos in a shop in Fitchburg, MA.
Tools	Appropriate replacement parts rarely are available for these instruments so I have learned how to make them; in many cases this also means making special tools.
Links	In such a diverse occupation it helps knowing sources of information from other concentrations.
