Team Endura-Thule-24/7-M.I. Racings' 70yr old Mick Ives (Baginton) secured his 67th British Championship when he won the 70+ age group title. His fourth successive title for Veteran riders.
The event attracted a full field of 150 riders plus eight reserves.
Fastest rider was professional Danny Fleeman (Cervelo Test Team) who last weekend rode and finished the 154 mile Tour of Lombardy (Italy); the last continental classic of the season.
He was in deavastating form beating 2008 champion Matt Clinton by a massive 14 seconds.
It was his first National Hill Climb ride and he didn't even ride the hill in practice!
Fleemans time was 3 mins 17.8 secs.
Ives, was fourth fastest in the championships forty four years ago in 1965 (his last event before turning professional), covered the very tough climb in 6mins 0.1 secs for 112th position and beat his nearest rival (who was also placed fourth in the championships in the 60's), by 53 seconds.
