Greetings MI Region!

Ninety three officers, advisors, members, alumni and guests invaded Three Rivers and CentrevilleAlpha Delta Omega Chapter this weekend at Glen Oaks Community College. This group represented 17 of our community colleges in Michigan including Alpena CC for their first Regional event in a number of years! this weekend for the MI Region Mini Honors Conference hosted by the

The host chapter put together a great weekend under the guidance of Advisors Kathy Pelikan & Karen Grunert and Chapter President, Cora Davis and the officer team! There were a number of outstanding sessions to choose from and both the alumni and advisors had very productive meetings on Saturday. In addition we were able to sample the local fare at meal times and rock the Three Rivers Bowling Alley with a range of scores from the ridiculous to the impressive and I will let you determine where on the continuum you fell! :-)

We were joined by Headquarters' Guest, Thomas Aguilar the Division III Vice-President and even though he should have been home in bed with his flu, he delivered both a workshop and his Headquarters' Update, and met with the advisors, the Regional Board and a number of conference delegates.

MRAA under the direction of President, Patt Dettlof numbered 14 strong. They conducted their backpack and 50/50 raffles and provided the Who is Smarter than the Alumni game show on Friday evening for the Opening Night Hospitality! I believe that current members/officers/advisor teams tied the alumni teams--who says "life isn't fair?"

There were cards games, impromptu dance exhibitions, lots of time for fellowship and I am sure a number of activities that I am not aware of that round out the great weekend! Thank you again to the Alpha Delta Omega Chapter for hosting their first ever Regional event! Even though many of us who have hosted before know the work you did leading up to the weekend, you made it look easy...thank you again and we hope you can all get some rest!

A special thank you to all who helped me navigate through my first conference as your Regional Coordinator and an extra special thanks to Tom Obee who has been just an email away! His encouragement, suggestions and reminders are a blessing and we look forward to his active involvement in the Region this spring, as our Senior Coordinator--Extraordinaire!

Congratulations to Jan Akehurst who has joined the Advisory Board and will serve with Joe Shaw and Liz Washington. It was also great to welcome new advisors to the table--Cynthia Schauer from Kalamazoo Valley CC and Richard Lee from Oakland CC-Orchard Ridge.

We hope you will "calendar" both the International Conference to be held April 8 - 10 in Orlando, Florida and the MI Region Regional Convention to be held May 21 -23 at Macomb County Community College. Watch for photos from the weekend, flyers sharing events being held around the state and the Regional Newsletter that was distributed this weekend.
