Dear Friend,   The prospect of watching a child struggle with life-threatening disease is every parent’s nightmare and indeed, would be of concern to any compassionate person.                                                      Imagine then, the effect of having no option but to continue to feed contaminated food to children already in fragile health.  This is the reality of the situation for parents in Belarus trying to deal with the legacy of the Chernobyl disaster. These are people of great courage and natural humour who are endeavouring to deal with problems as best they can. Many of you will have seen heartening reports of children from Belarus visiting the U.K. for respite holidays from which they benefit enormously.  However, what about those little ones too tiny, too sick, or for other reasons unable to benefit from such opportunities?   This effort, to date in a very small way, has been to provide specialised supplements to support and improve immune systems, to a Minsk Hospice.  Reports back have been extremely positive in listing results seen in the children’s health improvements.  We should now very much like to increase the level of assistance given and with your help, we would be able to do just that.   As Dr. Anna Gorchakova knows only too well, when the quality of life is raised through improved health levels of a sick child – you also help alleviate the stress and feeling of helplessness within a whole family, together with the medical staff endeavouring to cope with this large-scale problem.   We have to date, with the help of a wonderful band of practitioners from many Complementary Health modalities, giving freely of their time, held therapy days to raise funds.  The level of amounts raised using this means, although valuable, is limited, and obviously restricted due to many factors.                                             Donations will be gratefully received.
