What's new in the V.A. Police?
July 22nd,2004 - H.R. 218 Signed into law: http://leaa.org/218/218text.html
Noveber 4th, 2004 - Suicide at Minneapolis VA Medical Center:
An outpatient at the Minneapolis Veterans Medical Center flashed a handgun at a staff member Wednesday evening before turning the weapon on himself, police said. The 57-year-old man died of a single gunshot wound. His name was not released.
The man had an appointment at the hospital Wednesday afternoon, then returned several hours later, asking for his clinician, said Chief Deputy Michele Smolley of the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office. The clinician left the man in a room on the fourth floor after seeing the gun, closed the door, then heard a single gunshot, Smolley said.
Minneapolis Police, Veterans Affairs Police and the Sheriff's Office tried for three hours to talk to the man by telephone and through the door before bursting in to find him dead.
