Bioshock 2 Special Edition Announced

Here’s a (not so much) surprise. 2K today delivered the deets on the BioShock 2 Special Edition which will retail for $99 ($89 for the PC) and feature lots of goodies in addition to the game itself. Here’s the rundown of what’s included via the official website:
The Special Edition will come in 13″x13” premium packaging with special art on both the slipcase and the box cover. Inside, you will find three posters featuring vintage ads from Rapture (rolled), a vinyl 180g LP featuring the orchestral score from the original BioShock, a CD containing the BioShock 2 orchestral score, a 164 page 8″x11″ hardbound artbook chock full of developer commentary and, of course, a copy of BioShock 2.
Dude! A vinyl?!?!?! That’s a pretty freakin’ cool inclusion considering the game’s story and what not. Nice touch;)
If you’re interested in picking this up, you might wanna go ahead and pre-order. 2K has specified that this will indeed be of the “single production run” variety.
The BioShock 2 Special Edition is slated to release on February 9, 2010.

Modern Warfare 2
Forget Roger Rabbit, back off Beatles, take a seat Titanic…you all have been PWND! That’s right, There’s a heaping helping of congratulatory cake over at Infinity Ward and Activision this morning and the blood-colored icing reads “Congrats on the Biggest Launch in Entertainment History”. While the numbers are fluctuating slightly, it appears that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has SOLD (as opposed to just SHIPPED) approximately 4.7 million copies of the controversial airport carnage simulator across the 360, PS3, and PC within the first 24 hours of availability throughout North America and the United Kingdom alone. Like math? Well, so does Activision, and at the risk of breaking Bobby Kotick’s personal calculator, the publisher determined that the number of game sales translates to about $310 million bones.
Dude….That’s a lotta coin for one 24-hour period and we can only imagine how much the game will accumulate in sales once it is released everywhere and has a few months in the holiday spotlight. I’m calling yet another sequel right now! Oh wait…

Halo Reach Screenshots???

Reach Perks (Left Bumper [Dual Wield GONE?]): Sprinting, Camo: Invisible to radar, and Hologram: create a Hologram of yourself?
Halo: CE None Regen Health system back?
Weapons: Carbine (Cross Between Carbine and Needler, 3 Shot Kill), BR (12 Round Clip, 1 shot with Scope), AR, Spartan Laser
Drop in, Drop Out Co-Op?
Reach Activies on Menu?
This first mission was just like Halo 1's 2nd mission where you had to find the marines that crash landed throughout the map, but in halo reach you are finding spartans. It's a pretty big map, and the worthog was very useful for getting places. The worthog can carry as many as 5 people (the driver, the front passenger, the gunner, and two seats below the gunner that face left and right, not forward)
The second mission was pretty action packed. You start out getting dropped off, and the action immediately begins. You are with squadmates. Throughout this mission you have to cover your spartan friend (whos a girl) and give her coverage so that she can hack into the computer. There are 3 big guns on the map that she has to hack into. Hacking into them gains control of the gun, and I guess it gives them control of the air (you see banshees and hornets flying throughout the entire level)
The third stage is very similar to Truth and Reconciliation (the 3rd stage on Halo 1). You and another spartan have snipers. You have to get into the enemy base from the cliffs (you start out on the cliffs). While you go in the base, your spartan friend covers you from the cliffs above. At the end of this level, you save a bunch of scientists or marines (not really sure who they are actually). They are humans who refused to leave their site even though they ordered everyone to get out. At the end of the level you save them and get picked up by a pelican.
Those were the first 3 stages. As for gameplay, everyone on those forums are talking about the perks. I guess I kinda used the wrong word. It's not really a perk, but rather a device that you can pick up. You can only carry one at a time. I found 3 different devices in the first 3 missions-Halogram, cloak, and sprint. So it's not really a perk, like you would think from call of duty. They are just devices you pick up and that have cooldowns.
The new BR is the 12 round, 1 shot with the scope. I think it's more powerfull than the burst fire BR from halo 3.
The sniper rifle has a longer delay between shots (I was upset with this).
The gameplay seem VERY similar to the other halos. It still has that "slow" feeling. The enemies also fight the exact same way, even the hunters.
The new needler carbine gun is cool. It takes three shots to make the needles explode on someone. However, if that person has a shield, you have to take out the shield before the needles can stick. So this gun can be effective if you shoot grunts and jackals, that way they explode and do more damage. You can't just shoot an elite three times, you have to bring his shield down first, then when you shoot him 3 times when he doesnt have a shield, the needles explode.
When you cloak, your radar is jammed, so you see red dots everywhere. Also, you can't hear anything going on. It's like trying to hear someone say something when you are underwater.
There is a new worthog that shoots volley missles. It seemed very overpowered, but fun. It would shoot about 4-6 shots and they explode upon contact. Then there is about a 5 second wait. Then you can shoot again (basically a 5 second cooldown for every time you can fire).
I found something really extraordinary. In the middle of mission 3, you encounter a bunch of covenant fighting this big ass monster (it had tusks, it seemed like some sort of prehistoric animal)
When you see the covenant fighting the monster, you are told not to engage combat, but to just go by unnoticed. You stand and watch the covenant fighting the monster, only to see the covenant get owned.
You must understand that this game is still LOOONG from being done. People on the forums are making too early judgments, like saying the graphics were horrible. Well I played the game and the graphics were pretty bad. That's because they havn't finished it yet... In fact, they didn't even have human voice overs when someone would talk in the game.
Overall gameplay was about the same as the other Halos.
Enemies battles are similar too.
I don't know if you can dual wield.
They made me play through the first 3 missions.
The first mission was on a pretty big map, and I had to find other spartans on the map (similar to Halo 1's second stage where you have to find the crash landed marines).
Second stage was pretty action packed, main goal was to take control of several huge missile guns throughout the map, and provide coverage to a spartan that would hack into the guns and control them.
Third stage was very similar to Halo 1's 3rd stage, Truth and Reconciliation. You start with a sniper and cloaking perk, you sneak into an enemy base at night, and you shoot from cliffs.
This game WILL be on the circuit I KNOW IT FOR A FACT, I am an mlg 50 and was a level 40 in h2 hardcore and know what competitive IS!

Project Natal Details
MCV is laying claim to delivering the first details regarding the launch of Microsoft’s Project Natal. Citing a behind-closed-doors Microsoft tour of UK publishers, the report states that the controller-free Natal will release worldwide in November 2010, be accompanied by 14 games, and retail for below £50 when sold alone, making it FAR CHEAPER than most would have suspected (and by “most”, I mean “us”.)
The most interesting quote in the piece is that Microsoft is “trying to get as close as possible to ‘impulse buy’” territory and of course the low price tag would accommodate that.
Of course, none of these details are confirmed, but you can expect Msoft to respond in some way as we draw near to the eventual launch of Natal on the Xbox 360. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more. Until then, start dancing around your living room and flailing your arms to practice up…

James Cameron's Avatar Cost $500,000,000
Remember how everyone freaked out when James Cameron spent $200 million making Titanic, which was then by far the most expensive movie in the world? And nowadays most of the big summer movies cost around $200 mil? Well, Cameron must have hated being out of the record books, because the New York Times is reporting that Avatar -- which is, as we all know, Captain Planet with cats -- cost $500 million dollars. Half a fucking billion. For this:
Somehow, the NYT figures that Avatar will make a profit if it makes $250 mil in ticket sales (not sure how that works, but apparently it's something to do with the investing of the movie), which both Star Trek and The Hangover did. So it's not impossible, but since we nerds thinks the movie looks goofy as all hell, I can't imagine that normal folks think any different. The 3-D better be pretty fucking outstanding, because most people are going to buy tickets in spite of the blue furries, not because of them.

CSI: Miami - New Season Starts 2010 - More Info Soon...
'CSI' Laurence Fishburne to Crossover to 'Miami' and 'NY'
Announced via CBS' Twitter is a major crossover between "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and its spin offs. Laurence Fishburne's Dr. Raymond Langston will be the character from the original series who will make a visit to "CSI: Miami" and "CSI: NY". No word on other characters.
The crossover is scheduled to take over within 1 week this Fall, but it is still unknown in which week it will take place. "Miami" will be the first to premiere, entering the eighth season on Monday, September 21. It is followed by the sixth season premiere of "NY" on Wednesday, September 23 and the tenth season of "CSI" on Thursday, September 24.
Langston is the character brought in to the Las Vegas version to anticipate the loss of William Petersen's Gil Grissom. The transition was not so much a success but the network is making some changes that hopefully will be better appreciated. Jorja Fox is invited back to the show to reprise her role as Sara Sidle.
Another plan is to change the wardrobe of Langston. If previously he was seen in suits with his glasses on, the character will lose it all in future episodes. "I think what you're looking for is wardrobe that reflected him being more comfortable in his environment," CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler said. "I mean, he came as an outsider coming in, so his clothes - you know, he was in suits, he was a little stiff, he wore his glasses."

CSI: Miami: Is Delko Going Recurring? (Or, Don't Tell Me He'll Be A Ghost...)

"I think my romance is in jeopardy. I think we were in some poor contract negotiations."
Emily Procter there, talking to E! News about the prospects of her CSI: Miami co-star and on-screen boyfriend Adam Rodriguez. If she's to be believed, it looks like Delko's getting a downgrade, from a regular cast member to a recurring cast member--but, to be honest, I'm not really surprised.
To be fair, though, this isn't confirmed yet. CBS hasn't spoken up on Rodriguez's status on the show, which begins its eighth season on September 21. Sources, however, tell E! Online that he'll be back for "a limited engagement" and they're not sure "in what form Delko will appear."
Hrmmm. I will drop the spoiler that I've been dropping so frequently that it doesn't seem like a spoiler anymore: Delko got shot, I think in the head, and is in a coma. That's why we're kicking off the new season with a flashback, complete with a Tripp full of hair and a returning Alexx.
I initially thought we'll spend part of the season looking for Delko--that's how the last season's finale seemed to point at anyway--so it was a given, at least to my blood-stained mind, that he won't be returning full-time for the show. But we'll have it easy: they'll find him quickly and get him to a hospital in time.
The question is the "what form" bit we've just heard. Don't tell me he'll be doing what Speedle did to him before--and actually be an apparition to Calleigh? Well, given what CSI: Miami can do, it won't be much of a surprise.
Will they actually kill Delko off? Will they keep him in a coma and make him appear in flashbacks, or worse (depends), those apparitions? Questions, questions. But it does suck a bit seeing the Delko-Calleigh story not get the push that we want... at least not as much as we imagined would happen.
And then there's the question of who actually shot Delko in the head.

Halo Movie May Be Finally Gaining Momentum
The Halo movie just hasn’t been able to get a break as of late, till now that is as news has it that none other then Steven Spielberg of Jurassic Park, Jaws and Indiana Jones fame is very interesting in getting the project of the ground. IESB is reporting that the director is blown away by the script by Stuart Beattie which is floating around the Hollywood scene at the moment.
While Spielberg is more then capable of handling this project from looking at his other epics (think the scale of Jurassic Park but the intensity of Indiana Jones). It has also been reported that he’s a gaming fan as well; and in particular Bio-Shock.
If this actually goes anywhere however is yet to be seen but it’s reassuring knowing that the same man who made Jurassic Park is now behind the project.

"Microsoft Lower Games on Demand Prices" (Sign the Petition)
we the undersigned petition ...
Microsoft lower Games on Demand prices!
The Games on Demand prices in the new Xbox Live update dated for August 11, 2009 are way too expensive. Sure we get a full Xbox 360 game but for the same price we might as well get it at the store. The fact that it's a digital download and we aren't even getting any physical product, and that we are subscribed to Xbox Live as well, should at least entitle some discount to the price of the game found in retail stores to us. The below hereby agree that the price of the Games on Demand should be decreased. Please and thank you Microsoft.

Rumour: Red Storm Working on GRAW 3 for Xbox 360
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter made several in-roads in an industry littered with tactical shooter sims and WWII clones. More importantly, it helped improve the Xbox 360’s foothold in it’s first year, before Gears of War and Halo 3 made their respective debuts later. Despite the series being multi-platform, coming to the Playstation 3 and PC, GRAW has always arrived on Microsoft’s consoles first.

Brutal Legend Soundtrack
I don't know if the soundtrack for a game has every truly been "hotly anticipated," but if one had to choose the most "hotly anticipated" soundtrack to a game ever it might just be Brütal Legend's as the entire game is about rock and/or roll and features a plethora of heavy metal music stars who would make the soundtrack truly epic. Now that we've established that the soundtrack is indeed "hotly anticipated" the news that EA Denmark seems to have leaked the songs present in the game should get you pretty excited. The Denmark branch of EA posted the song tracks on their site, revealing that the game will feature over 100 songs from legends of metal.
You can check out the list below the jump, but there is a strange lack of Iron Maiden in the game for some reason. There's plenty of Ozzy, Riot, Ratt and Judas Priest though, so I think it's safe to say we're all going to have some pretty cramped necks from headbanging non-stop. Can't wait until Rocktober.
(Update: Looks like it has all been confirmed and with a sexy quote from Tim Schafer: "This soundtrack took years to put together as we wanted to represent every genre of Metal, and also have the perfect music for every epic moment in the game. It's designed to be loved by Metal fans, and for those who are not, it will either convert them or make their heads explode ... or both.")

PSP Video Store Open in Japan
Good news Japanese PSN account holders! You can now browse and download from the PSN Store’s video section on your PlayStation Portable.
It’s rather slim pickings over in that store right now, though. There are around 100 titles to choose from, though obviously Sony plans to expand your choices exponentially soon. You can rent titles as well, which once purchased are valid for 72 hours. The service has been available in the US since E3, and apparently has yet to launch in the UK.

LittleBigPlanet gets ‘Big’ Game of the Year Edition Plus a ‘Little’ DLC
Last year the game Little Big Planet was released for the PlayStation 3 and took the world by storm. The game quickly became one of the most beloved titles this generation, and received outstanding reviews. Earlier today Amazon.com posted a re-release of the game titled Little Big Planet: Game of the Year Edition. The Amazon page also showed off the new boxart for the title.
Here is the new box art:

Interestingly, the cover also states that the game “includes Bonus Content valued at over $30″. Little Big Planet has housed lots of DLC content including map packs, sticker packs, and costumes as well. What the $30 of DLC will include is anyone’s guess, but judging by the released date of the game last year, we should expect to see this new version of the game sometime in October or November.

Playstation 3 Price Drop Coming To UK (After I Brought Mine!)
A very reliable source at a major UK retail chain has told Play that the PS3 price-drop is definitely happening soon. Our source didn’t yet know exactly when the price was due or exactly what it would be or whether it would coincide with the announcement or launch of the rumoured slim PS3, but promised more details if and when they become available.
This is the latest in a whole string of rumours regarding the PS3 price-drop and, to be honest, we’d pretty much heard enough already to be persuaded it was happening imminently. Now though, given how trusted our own source is, we’re in no doubt whatsoever.

50 Cent Has Played Modern Warfare 2 (And Gets A Voice Role?)
Jeez, Infinity Ward's bringing in all kinds of celebrity-types to play Modern Warfare 2. 50 Cent's official news site updated with shots of the skull enthusiast playing games at Infinity Ward alongside the guys from Good Charlotte. The post states that 50 is doing a voice the game, as well, specifically "The Multi-Player Voice."
I have to imagine that means he's just doing some random soldier voices in multiplayer, but what if they meant he was the announcer? Can't you just hear 50 screaming "headquarters located, motherfucker" now?
Also, maybe it's just me, but between Good Charlotte, 50, and Dane Cook, doesn't it seem like IW is going out of its way to connect its game with questionable celebs? Are Spencer Pratt, Chris Brown, and the guy from Jon Gosselin coming in next week, or what? The only celebrity types that've played it (and been noted publically) that I can think of that don't seem like awful people are Will Arnett and Jon Glaser. Oh, and Ice-T, who recently saw the game in New York.
