Newbie Walkthrough

Welcome to Silvery Moon! :) Members of this league call themselves the 'Moonies'
Below are some questions and guidelines which will explain how the league works. We play in Yahoo! Pyramids in AMAUNET. On the main page there is a 'go play now' button that will take you straight to AMAUNET. I hope you enjoy the league, and, if you have any questions or concerns, please dont hesitate to contact a member of staff listed on the main page. Most of all, have fun!

How do I sign Up?

Simple! Back on the main page (www.myleague.com/silverymoon), under the Home tab, hit free sign up! Follow the instructions carefully and remember; the name you use MUST be the same as the name you will use in the room. If you have already signed up and haven't received an activation key, please contact admin (listed on the main page and at the bottom of this walkthrough).

Ok, I've signed up, now what?

Now you're ready to play! We play in Yahoo! Pyramids AMAUNET (backdoor on the main page). Make your way there and once in, explain you are new to the league and ask for some assistance. Sometimes the room can be quiet, so, if you get no reply, try again later. You must play 3 regular league games before you can join tournaments (unless you have previous league experience, this then becomes the TDs (tournament directors) discretion). Regular means no twist. A twist is something that can effect your final score eg. drop all zeros.

I'm in AMAUNET! How do I play someone else?

Ok, as I mentioned above, explain you are new or ask for a game: 'game anyone?' If there are other Moonies in the room, someone will reply. Also, it's a good time to mention a lot of Moonies communicate via Yahoo! Messenger and the staff advertise tournaments via this also. You can download messenger at http://www.messenger/yahoo.com. Ok, so you have found your first opponent, now what? Ok in regular game, you and your opponent alternate turns, and, while they are playing you watch them. To watch an opponent, double click their name and hit 'watch'. If they are starting, you watch their first turn until they are done. They will type their score in chat, the lobby, and BEFORE YOU LEAVE THEIR ROOM YOU MUST SAY GOT IT(or gi for short) to say that you agree with their score. Once you have said 'gi'(got it) hit start, and now it's your turn to play. DO NOT START YOUR TURN UNTIL YOU SEE YOUR OPPONENT HAS ENTERED YOUR ROOM. Once you have completed your turn, you type the score in the lobby, wait until they say 'gi'(got it) and they will leave your room. You then go back to their room and so on and so forth until you have played 3 turns each(or however many you agreed to play). The winner is determined by the person who, once all 3 turns have been added up, has the highest score. If you have any problems or questions, dont be afraid to ask! No question is a silly question. :)

I won/lost the game, now what do i do?

If you won the game, you do nothing! Your opponent will report the result of the match. However, if sadly, you lost, you need to report the result of the match. To do this, go to the main league page (www.myleague.com/silverymoon) and, under the Standings tab, click on 'report match' and follow the instructions. :)

Is there an easier way of keeping score to save using pen and paper?

Yes! Again, back on the main league page(www.myleague.com/silverymoon), click on 'download scorekeeper'.

I've played my first 3 regular games, now what else can I do? Can I enter tournaments?

Well done on completing your first 3 games! Now you can play different varieties of games (twists) and enter tournaments. (As mentioned above, if you have previous league experience, the first 3 regular games can be waived). All twist explanations can be found on the right hand side of the Tournaments tab, where each twist is explained. To join tournaments, either a) use the link that you have received via Messenger, or b) use the Tourney Jump Box located on the main page. If you want to see what tourneys are coming up that day, keep an eye on the tourney calendar located on the Tournaments tab. One important difference between league games and tournaments is that the TD(Tournament Director) reports all matches

I have no idea what people are saying. It's like they are talking another language. Help!

We use a lot of 'lingo' in the room which can make things confusing. On the main page, there is a link that says 'Moonies Lingo'. Click on that and a list of all the terminology we use will open in a separate window.

Anything else I need to know or should be aware of?

Yes, just a few things. Remember to always be courteous to your opponent and always wish them luck. We make a big effort to keep AMAUNET friendly and fun. Also, we are a PG league. Please, do not swear or cuss in the room, as we have many young members who like to join us. Also, please don't argue or disrespect the Staff of the league. We give up our time to make the room a better environment for you. If you do disagree with a member of staff, or feel something has happened in the room, either talk to that member of staff in IM or contact a member of Admin. Lastly, please try and avoid using CAPS as this can seem like you are shouting at people.

We hope you have fun in Silvery Moon. For reference, or for any comments, complaints or questions you may have, the Admin members of this league are:

  • Deanna - scorpio_queen_td (Head Admin)
  • Kay - angel14100
  • All of whom can be contacted via Yahoo! Messenger using the links on the main page or via email, using either the Contact Admin link under the Support tab, or at silverymoonadmin@gmail.com
