Legendary Johnny Neel: The Real Deal at Delivering "Every Kinda' Blues".
Article by Laura Jenney
Tennessee, Georgia & Florida Office
It's a sure bet that the multitude of fans worldwide of legendary performer, (prolific singer, songwriter and keyboard player), Johnny Neel agree that every time Johnny Neel releases a new CD, they already KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that even before they get the cellophane off of it, that the CD in their hands is going to be nothing short of a funktastic, mindblowing, musical thrill ride from beginning to end. Johnny Neel's multitude of fans know this because consistently THAT IS THE WAY IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN in the long history of his much celebrated career as a master musician. When it comes to Johnny's latest CD, "Every Kinda Blues ...But What You're Used To", this CD is no exception to that rule; however this CD IS TRULY EXCEPTIONAL in every sense of the word!
For those who haven't heard it yet, how exceptional is this CD you ask? (And I'm so glad you did...)
It's EPIC! (Even by Johnny Neel standards!) For starters, there is absolutely no false advertising in the title as Johnny Neel and band delves deep into every imaginable sub genre and style of the blues, ranging from funky, hard driving blues/rock style, reminiscent of Johnny Neel's days of performing with the Dickie Betts Band, The Gregg Allman Band and The Allman Brothers Band, to Delta style blues, deep down soulful blues, classic blues, blues/jazz fusion, moving, heartfelt blues, old school R&B style Southern boogie, (to burn), Gospel blues, and even 'feel good' blues, (if there wasn't such a thing before, there certainly is now), and far beyond. And I'm thinking Johnny Neel has even invented a few new sub genres of blues on this outstanding and absolutely stellar, must have CD as well. And of course, it is delivered up in nothing but THE tightest of musicianship by all performers that contributed to the making of this CD. Johnny Neel's "Every Kinda Blues ...But What You're Used To" is, not only in my own personal and professional opinion as a long time veteran music industry exec, and I'm sure in the opinion of Johnny Neel's fans everywhere, that this CD is indeed worthy of a Best Blues Album of the Year Award, (if not Album of the Year Award), at both the Grammys, American Music Awards, International Blues Music Awards, and at the Blues Music Awards! Johnny Neel's latest release, "Every Kinda Blues ...But What You're Used To" is THAT EXCEPTIONAL of a CD! What's more, there are absolutely no 'filler tracks', as every track off of this CD are radio worthy, true blues classics material delivered in Johnny Neel's own highly celebrated signature style, with the utmost performances by all contributing musicians on this unforgettable CD.
And while on the subject of awards, no doubt, Johnny Neel certainly deserves a Lifetime Achievement Award at ALL the above, (as well as the The American Country Music Awards, and others), for his many truly outstanding contributions over his vast career that spans an impressive four plus decades of delivering great music to the masses both nationally and worldwide.
Besides Johnny's success and contributions to the music and/or having been a member and/or touring with such great acts as The Allman Brothers Band, The Dickie Betts Band and Gov't Mule, Johnny has written songs for such greats as John Mayall, Delbert Mc Clinton, Montgomery Gentry, Keith Whitley, Travis Tritt, The Oak Ridge Boys, Restless Heart, Ann Peebles, (soul), Dorothy Moore, (pop, R&B and soul), and John Schneider. That is not to mention his work as a 'session A' studio musician, having performed on albums for/by Montgomery Gentry, Warren Haynes, Michael McDonald, Todd Snyder, (Americana, country and folk), David Allan Coe, Jeff Coffin, (of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones), Robert Gordon, (rockabilly, alternative rock and punk rock), Chris LeDoux, Tiny Town, Suzy Bogguss, Joe Diffie, Colin Raye and Pirates of the Mississippi. ...That's not counting Johnny Neel's highly respected solo career, having released an impressive 12 (or more), CDs in a broad range of genres covering elements of rock, Southern rock, progressive rock, rockabilly, funk, jam, jazz, soul, Gospel, Southern boogie, R&B, Americana, classical and of course, 'every kinda' blues'. So needless to say, it's unquestionably indisputable that one would be hard pressed to find any master musician that has contributed as much to so many genres of music in their career in the music industry as Johnny Neel certainly has. And I'm sure all the aforementioned great acts above will certainly agree that some Lifetime Achievement Awards are definitely in order and long overdue for music industry legend Johnny Neel. ...While we are at it, Johnny certainly deserves to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in ALL the above mentioned genres as well.
...And on the subject of giving credit where credit is due, Johnny Neel has left no stone unturned when it came to selecting the best performers for his "Every Kinda Blues ...But What You're Used To" CD.
Keyboards/Vocals/Harmonica/Keytar Slide: Johnny Neel.
Guitars: Jack Pearson, Anthony Basso, Danny Hamlin, Eldon Huff, Luke Davis, Kenny Meeks, and Doug Jones.
Bass: Dennis Gulley and Fabio Drusin.
Drums: Daryl Burgess, Silver Bassi, Kelo Stroud, and Curt Redding.

Backing Vocals: Kim Morrison, Christine Thompson, Shawn Murphy, Eldon Huff, Dennis Gulley and Randy Russell.
As if Johnny Neel's credits as a top notch musician were not impressive enough, Johnny Neel is quite the master in the realm of recording as well; as Johnny Neel is the Owner of Nashville based recording studio, Straight Up Sound Studio, located at 2730 Westwood Drive, Nashville, Tennessee 37204. One can easily assess that if ANYONE knows a little something about producing great sound when it comes to great music, Johnny Neel would certainly be THE GUY. As a matter of fact, Johnny's "Every Kinda Blues ...But What You're Used To" was recorded at Straight Up Sound Studio, therefore, the high quality sound of this excellent CD bears testimony of Johnny Neel's further talent, finesse and mastery as a producer as well. Co-producing and engineering the album Dennis Gulley is notably credited for this fine work.

to further promote his latest CD release “Every Kinda Blues, ...But what You're Used To”; and would especially like to add more new concert dates in Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Maryland, DC, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Delaware, Idaho, and Colorado.
Then after completing his US tour, Johnny Neel and band would very much be interested in possibly revisiting countries he has previously toured in, and even expand his tour to some countries he has not had the pleasure of performing in yet. Places Johnny Neel is especially interested in gaining concert dates would be, Canada, Mexico, The Caribbean Nations, Central and South American nations, as well as European nations, (Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and of course, all of the United Kingdom); Asian destinations such as Japan, Singapore, Thailand, etc; and certainly Australia. ...And of course, anywhere and everywhere fans demand.
Concert and/or festival promoters and venues interested in booking dates for legendary performer Johnny Neel can do so by contacting Management/Agent Doug Jones of Songjones Media at
615-427-3540, or by e-mail at email@example.com.
I always find it interesting to ask legendary artists who their influences musically are; while speaking with Johnny Neel, I asked Johnny who his musical influences were. Johnny Neel's influences include: Leon Russell, Ray Charles, Oscar Peterson, Gregg Allman, (even before Johnny was performing with him), Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Humble Pie, Cactus, Rod Stewart & Faces, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Aretha Franklin are amongst his favorites; (as Johnny Neel loves classic soul), and is heavily into rock, jazz, soul and blues. (No surprises there.)
We at Mindsweep Entertainment & Promotions wish to convey to the legendary Johnny Neel a big bravo, kudos and congrats on yet another funktastic, mindblowing, musical thrill ride with his latest CD, "Every Kinda Blues ...But What You're Used To", but most of all we would like to say THANK YOU to Johnny Neel, for the many years and the immense contribution of great music that master musician, singer and songwriter Johnny Neel has provided for his fans the world over.

Chick Willis: Decades of Performing Excellence and Best Yet on Latest CD.
Written by Laura Jenney
Bravo, kudos and congrats on the much celebrated 2009 release by world renowned and respected American music legend Chick Willis, for what is being acclaimed worldwide as perhaps Chick Willis' BEST ALBUM YET; out of well over 20 outstanding albums that Chick Willis has been credited with having either released, has been featured on, and/or has produced, in over five decades of exceedingly dynamic live and studio performances over his vast and successful career.
Chick Willis was indisputably and rightfully hailed as "The Don of the Blues" on his highly acclaimed last CD by the same title. On Chick's latest CD titled "Hit and Run Blues", (on Benevolent Blues Records), the far reaching and extreme amount of versatility and prolific musical performances by Chick, (and all members of his band), not only proves their mastery ranging from THE smoothest to red hot smoking performances in several styles of blues, (such as Southern style, Chicago style, country style and classic style of blues and beyond), but also in a multiple array of other musical styles and genres as well, (ranging from old school style R&B, soul, funk, stroll, Americana, Carolina beach music, jazz and even rock), also reigns supreme. So much so, that a multitude of fans both nationally and worldwide would attest and
agree that Chick Willis is deserving of yet another title. …(Or even several!) The title(s) of Grammy Award Winner for Best Blues Performer, Best Album of the Year, (in any one or more of the above mentioned genres), and Lifetime Achievement Award would sound about right!
From the very first dynamic notes of the bluesy, jazzy, strollin' first track on this outstanding CD, (titled "Houdini Lover"), to the very ending notes featuring Chick's extremely smooth signature sound on guitar in the last track of this 12 song, must have CD, (titled "Blues Man"), 'The Don' and his 'wise guys' not only delivers THE tightest, THE classiest, and exhibits THE most versatile performances on EVERY track of THE ENTIRE CD, but delivers it in true Cadillac style. As well as delivering all the above, Chick also let's the good times roll for listeners by combining an abundance of Chick's own trademark style of 'adult humor',
wrapped in fun, and sealed with a combination of fast moving and romantic slow groovin' tunes that are absolutely impossible not to dance to from beginning of this CD to the very end.
Very notable are the stellar performances by ALL the well respected seasoned performers on this CD. For instance, the sultry, smooth and hallmark performances on saxophone were contributed by renowned and respected educator and sax man Jacques Johnson Sr., (United States Army Band, Associate Professor of Jazz Studies at the University of the District of Columbia, has performed with such greats as Bob Hope, The Coasters, Stanley Turrentine, The Drifters, Solomon Burke, and he studied under Frank Foster, former Director of The Count Bassie Band), can be heard and are featured all throughout this CD. Exceptional additional guitar work is also exhibited by Jacques Johnson Jr., as well on this CD.
For those who have a passion for slide guitar, you just HAVE to hear the prolific slide work laid down on the track "Today I Started Loving You Again", to believe it; which was performed by Ray Pilkens, (Owner of Ambient Recording Studios, in
Contributions by Nat Noland on trumpet stand out with brilliant contrast; and always notable and exceptional is the bass work on Chick Willis' CD's which were contributed by bass masters Chuck Carthan, Les Campbell and Billy Hancock. Steve Walker and Andy Hamburger provide an impressive display of super finesse of both dynamics and nuances on drums on this CD. And last but certainly not least, backing vocals by 'The Stoop Down Back Up Singers' brings that extra special and soulful 'somethin' somethin' to the table that seals the deal; when 'The Don' and his band of heavy hitters "make you an offer you can't refuse" when it comes to dealing out great blues and more on this CD.
'The Don', Chick Willis will be paying you a little visit in his upcoming national and worldwide tour to promote his latest CD, "Hit and Run Blues", and are currently seeking and accepting concert and festival dates, as well as club dates at better venues everywhere. Chick has expressed that he especially enjoys performing everywhere throughout Europe, after having performed there many times over the years; and would also love to perform in Russia, Japan, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, and of course, embrace fans anywhere and everywhere they demand.
To book Chick Willis on his tour to promote his outstanding latest CD "Hit and Run Blues", please contact Laura Jenney, (904-342-2786) or by e-mail at Laura@tntbooking.com, and/or Tony Saldano, (912-690-1156 or by e-mail at Tony@tntbooking.com, or any of the agents at the esteemed T&T Management & Booking Agency.
Though the title of 'Don of the Blues' that has been awarded to Chick Willis is well deserved, as intimidating as that title sounds, and to spite being renowned for the humorously 'naughty' lyrical content in some of Chick's music; don't let that title fool you. Underneath it all, Chick has just as much heart as he does soul. Chick Willis was in fact, the first legendary performer to step up to the plate when asked to perform in a worldwide concert series to raise funding and awareness to help eradicate the deadly disease, Sickle Cell Anemia; that is being organized by well known
musical, radio and television personality and talk show host JR Perry, (www.lovedropradio.com), to support the work of brilliant Biochemist and Doctor, Robert Broyles, who actually HAS THE CURE for this deadly disease! (sicklecellcurefoundation.org/2009/08/radio-interview). Chick has also agreed to participate via appearances in the soon to be launched massive media campaign along with well known personality JR Perry and/or Dr. Robert Broyles on TV and radio station and network programming everywhere. So amongst Chick Willis' many titles, caring humanitarian can be added to that list.
To book JR Perry, Dr. Robert Broyles and/or Chick Willis on TV and/or radio programming, please contact JR Perry at firstname.lastname@example.org or myself at LauraJenney@Gmail.com, as we at Mindsweep Entertainment & Promotions will be assisting with both a massive press and media campaign and administrative work for this cause, and in massive cross promotions for the artists that wish to participate in the cause and events as well. Other renowned and respected artists that were the first to come aboard is the amazingly fast rising jam band Bodhi (www.myspace.com/bodhifl), who is taking the music industry by storm), and the absolutely sizzling salsa/jazz sensations, Orquesta Fiesta, (www.orquestafiesta.com). For more info on these concert, radio and TV programming events, be sure to read the article titled "Eradicating a Deadly Disease Through Science, Music and Love" which I will be releasing to the press in a few days.
For well renowned artists that wish to come aboard for this cause and be listed in this upcoming press release, please contact (me), Laura Jenney at LauraJenney@Gmail.com.
Fans can check out videos of Chick Willis performing live on AOL Video, YouTube and other video outlets. To listen to tracks off of Chick Willis’ new CD, visit his official My Space site at www.myspace.com/chickwillis.
To purchase Chick's smoking hot new CD, "Hit and Run Blues" is currently available at all major internet purchasing outlets such as iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby and others.
By the way, if you are amongst the millions of Chick Willis fans worldwide, just in time for the holidays, another MUST HAVE CD, is Chick Willis' Christmas album, released on CML Records. This definitely makes for a terrific stocking stuffer for any music collector and/or connoisseur of great blues. (And judging from Chick's famous naughty sense of 'grown folks humor', if anyone knows how to stuff someone's stockings right, you can bet it would probably be Chick Willis!)
Amongst the legendary Chick Willis' many titles, including Blues Hall of Famer, recipient of such esteemed awards as Best Live Performance winner at the 2006 Living Blues Awards, winner of the Golden Peach Award, Lifetime Honorary Member of The Blues Foundation of Memphis, an award for appreciation at the Blues in School Rhythm and Blues Foundation, Georgia Music Hall of Fame, Honorary Citizen of Kansas City, Missouri, and many more, Chick Willis deserves even yet another title. ...How about declaring Chick Willis a NATIONAL
TREASURE, as no one, but no one has entertained more people in more genres of music for as long as Chick Willis has, in his over five decade long successful career in the music industry. Chick Willis is indeed a true American Music Legend and is sounding better than ever on his latest CD "Hit and Run Blues".

Edgar Winter: Hard Driving Rock N' Roll is Back on New CD " Article by Laura Jenney 10-7-08 The small advertising sticker that came attached to the cover Edgar Winter's brand new and long awaited CD, " For millions of fans of legendary performer Edgar Winter that have been thoroughly well rocked by Edgar's music for well over three decades and for 20 or so albums since the beginning of his career, it is hard to even fathom how Edgar Winter has indeed managed to out do even himself on his recently released new CD, "Rebel Road". Many of those who have heard this new CD would go as far to say that his latest CD, (released on Airline Records), is perhaps is his greatest release yet. It certainly has all the elements and excellence in musicianship and songwriting that fans have come to expect from this great artist. ...And then some! From the first notes, to the very ending notes on this dynamic CD, Edgar delivers to fans a musical hard driving thrill ride down Rebel Road, in a fast moving classic, super-modified for racing, with great handling in all the twists and turns, by exhibiting Edgar's immense hot rodding prowess as a master musician on a number of instruments ranging from synthesizer, piano, organ and saxophone. Edgar's vocals are better than ever, with Edgar running the full gauntlet of his extreme vocal capabilities ranging from belting out at his best, with a voice even bigger than his native state of Texas, on tracks such as "Rebel Road", "Eye on You", "The Power of Positive Drinking", "Rockin' the Blues", "I'd Do it Again", "Texas Tornado", "On The Horns of a Dilemma" and "Oh No No"; as well as exercises the smoother side of his extreme vocal prowess while cruising listeners through songs "Freedom", "The Closer I Get" and "Peace and Love". No doubt, Edgar Winter has definitely brought great rock n' roll back on this CD. ...REAL rock n' roll', the kind that will take you back to that place and time in music history when rock n' roll was at it's best; (which of course, Edgar Winter certainly took his place in that history and left his mark), yet his new CD is capable of setting the new standard in today's rock n' roll, and is a safe bet that this CD is destined to become one of tomorrow's great rock classics. (Which is nothing new for Edgar Winter). Further keeping true with Edgar Winter tradition, he drives this tricked out rock n' roll ride well past the limits of just one genre, taking new listeners and long time fans alike cruisin' on an adventure through the blues, as well as into territories of honky tonk, country and even funk. What is more, Edgar Winter enlists the musical expertise of some of the finest musicians in the industry, making "Rebel Road" all the more exceptional. Edgar's own band consisting of Doug Rappoport (Guitars), and Koko Powell (Bass), and others, are indeed heavy hitting performers, more than capable of pulling off a great CD; but yet another thing that Edgar Winter is world renown for, is a history of featuring phenomenal guest performers on his albums. That same one and a half inch by one and a half inch enticement sticker, (remember the sticker?), reads "Featuring guest appearances by Slash, Clint Black and Johnny Winter"; and indeed their performances on this CD were nothing short of stellar, as their individual signature sounds made a great contribution to this CD. What could not have been fit on that small sticker is the names of a multitude of other renowned, world class guest performers as: James "Zota" Baker, (War), contributing either on acoustic and electric guitars as well as bass and backing vocals throughout this CD, as well as delivering some very notably mean slide guitar work on tracks "Power of Positive Drinking" and "Peace and Love"... Curt Cuomo, (Kiss, Eddie Money)... Gary Novak, (Michael McDonald, Natalie Cole, David Sanborn, Anita Baker, George Benson, Chick Corea, Alanis Morissette), can be heard throwing down some of his signature (and lead footed) finesse on drums on tracks "Eye on You", "Freedom" and "I'd Do It Again"... With the likes of BOTH Mark "The Bass Cowboy" Meadows, (Johnny "Guitar" Watson, Queen Latifa, Bonnie Raitt, Meredith Brooks, Rick Derringer, Lisa Loeb, Dweezil Zappa), AND Matt Bissonette, (Ringo Starr, Joe Satriani, Don Henley, Boz Skaggs, Gino Vanelli, Julian Lennon, Steve Perry, Peter Frampton), performing on bass on this CD, you KNOW beyond a doubt that there is no lack of bottom end on Edgar Winter's latest CD "Rebel Road". The list of guest performers contributing their expertise on this CD also goes on further to include such great performers as: Abe Laboriel, (Paul McCartney, Steve Vai, B.B. King, Les Paul, LeAnn Rimes, Sting, Sheryl Crow, Eric Clapton, Shakira, Jewel, Meredith Brooks, Ringo Starr, Melissa Etheridge)... Dean Parks, (Steely Dan, Clay Aiken, Chet Adkins, Hoyt Axton, Anita Baker, George Benson, Clint Black, Toni Braxton, Jackson Browne, Joe Cocker, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Lowell George, Vince Gill, B.B. King, Lyle Lovett, Stevie Nicks)... Dave Carpenter, (Buddy Rich, Herbie Hancock, Al Jarreau, David Sanborn, Celine Dion, Jackson Browne, Bernie Taupin, Ringo Starr, Michael McDonald)... Cameron Stone, (Clay Aiken, Avenged Sevenfold, Travis Tritt, Melissa Etheridge, Tracy Chapman, Jewel, Herbie Hancock, Percy Sledge)... Erik Ron... Jimmy Paxson, (Alanis Morissette, Rod Stewart, Robben Ford, Ronnie Montrose)... Pete Maloney, (Dishwalla, Rita Cooledge, Tonic, Bette Midler)... Ross Hogarth, (Doobie Brothers, Ziggy Marley, Jonas Brothers, Jimmy Eat World, Lifehouse)... And Matt Laug (Alanis Morissette, Slash, Christine Aguilera, Meredith Brooks, Cher, Eddie Money, Alice Cooper, Lifehouse, Pat Benatar, Donna Summer). The caliber of names listed in the credits alone on Edgar Winter's sizzling new CD " As if all the outstanding music and celebrated featured guests weren't enough to make Edgar Winter's new CD one of the best rock CDs of this year, Edgar Winter gives even more entertainment to his fans by adding a seven page insert of up close and personally written insight into the man, (as well as the musician), and provides some great stories which make for some excellent reading. But of course, I'm not going to spoil that for you, and you'll just have to purchase the CD to get all the info there. If you haven't already purchased this CD, fans can listen to tracks from Edgar Winter's " Edgar Winter's new CD " Speaking of Edgar's live shows... After recently wrapping up a major tour performing with Ringo Star's Allstar Band, (which Edgar gives highlights and details on in the seven page insert on his new CD), Edgar Winter is also currently touring to promote this outstanding new CD. No doubt, these upcoming shows will be nothing less than a hard rockin' ride down "Rebel Road", (and you just never know who Edgar will have riding shotgun.)
Edgar Winter: Hard Driving Rock N' Roll is Back on New CD "
Article by Laura Jenney
The small advertising sticker that came attached to the cover Edgar Winter's brand new and long awaited CD, "
For millions of fans of legendary performer Edgar Winter that have been thoroughly well rocked by Edgar's music for well over three decades and for 20 or so albums since the beginning of his career, it is hard to even fathom how Edgar Winter has indeed managed to out do even himself on his recently released new CD, "Rebel Road".
That same one and a half inch by one and a half inch enticement sticker, (remember the sticker?), reads
"Featuring guest appearances by Slash, Clint Black and Johnny Winter"; and indeed their performances on this CD were nothing short of stellar, as their individual signature sounds made a great contribution to this CD. What could not have been fit on that small sticker is the names of a multitude of other renowned, world class guest performers as:
James "Zota" Baker, (War), contributing either on acoustic and electric guitars as well as bass and backing vocals throughout this CD, as well as delivering some very notably mean slide guitar work on tracks "Power of Positive Drinking" and "Peace and Love"...

Dave Carpenter, (Buddy Rich, Herbie Hancock, Al Jarreau, David Sanborn, Celine Dion, Jackson Browne, Bernie Taupin, Ringo Starr, Michael McDonald)...
Cameron Stone, (Clay Aiken, Avenged Sevenfold, Travis Tritt, Melissa Etheridge, Tracy Chapman,
Jewel, Herbie Hancock, Percy Sledge)...
Jimmy Paxson, (Alanis Morissette, Rod Stewart, Robben Ford, Ronnie Montrose)...
Pete Maloney, (Dishwalla, Rita Cooledge, Tonic, Bette Midler)...

The 'Good Book' says in Psalms 66:1, (written to the chief musician), "Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands. Sing forth the honor of His name: make His praise glorious." That is not only a Biblical principle, that has rang true for thousands of years, but makes for a very sound music industry principle as well. Especially so, if performed in a jumpin', and very cool, yet classy,
In both, my professional and personal opinion, from the extreme vast amount of broad marketing and audience appeal, on The Blind Boys of Alabama's latest CD, "Down in New Orleans" should definitely be considered for "Album of the Year", at the next Dove and Grammy Awards. I have no doubt, that anyone, regardless of age, race, geographics, or even religious affiliation, (even heathens), would find this CD richly enjoyable, as the diversity of styles mixed together within this CD, embraces such a wide range of musical styles such as early R&B and soul, New Orleans Dixieland style jazz, fused with absolutely great traditional style Gospel with a very definite funky edge. The resulting combination of excellent musicianship, styles and Heavenly vocals and harmonies (that the Blind Boys of Alabama have been world famous for decades for), delivers also to listeners, soul stirring and thought provoking lyrics with a positive vibe and message of universal brotherly love and appeal, making this CD worthy of award winning acclaim.
Every track from this CD is like good medicine for a hurting world, and is indeed a 'joyful noise', as even beyond the excellence in the quality of musicianship, the embracing of many styles, and thought provoking lyrics, this CD has what it takes to become one of the great 'must have' classics for years to come, because of the fact that the music on this CD is also downright fun to listen to!
Considering the exceptionally impressive history of The Blind Boys of Alabama's career, (spanning not only years, or decades, but several entire generations of providing outstanding entertainment to audiences both nationally and worldwide), if any group of musicians on the planet today deserve the title of "Chief Musicians", as written about in Psalms 66:1, The Blind Boys of Alabama certainly deserve that title! (And how about a "Lifetime Achievement Award" as well?)
Though there has been a number of changes in the line up of The Blind Boys of Alabama over the years since the founding of the group, which was originally formed back in 1939 at the Talladega Institute for the Blind, originally calling themselves The Happyland Singers; Singer Jimmy Lee Carter of BBoA has been a constant since the group's formation, up until present day as the group has become the widely respected and world renowned legends of American Roots and Gospel music that The Blind Boys of Alabama are today. Having been a consistent working act for seven miraculous decades, not only makes The Blind Boys of Alabama one of the acts with the longest running careers in American history, but also in the history of the music and entertainment industry worldwide.
Don't let the fact that The Blind Boys of Alabama have been around for seven decades fool you, The Blind Boys of Alabama has always possessed a 'universal element of cool' which has kept them highly in demand with not only audiences everywhere, (and has earned them four Grammy Awards), but also in demand to perform with alongside many contemporary acts in a wide varieties of genres, such as Gov't Mule, Robert Randolph, Ben Harper, Bonnie Raitt, Randy Travis, Peter Gabriel, Solomon Burke, Lou Reed and numerous others, but just to name a few.
The Blind Boys of

Joseph Patrick Moore Jazzes up the Music Industry Playing Lead on Bass.
Article by Laura Jenney
Besides the obvious, high quality performances and excellence in musicianship, the mark of a truly great performer can be defined by these three elements: 1) Who the execs in the music industry listen to when they are not working; (as music industry execs have to listen to music all day long, and most work extremely long work days). 2) Who the most respected performers in the music industry choose to collaborate and perform with. And 3) A performer who has a positively innate and unique sound that stands out and is distinctly their own, that hooks and astounds the listener from the start. ...And keeps them hooked
Such is the case with one of Jazz's most riveting artists, Joseph Patrick Moore, who has ALL the elements that mark a truly great performer, and more!
Great news for Joseph Patrick Moore's many fans worldwide, JPM is currently busy putting together his 7th CD release, entitled 'Thumper", (on Atlanta based Blue Canoe Records), which is appropriately named for his distinct style of performing very classy, yet blistering performances on bass, incorporated as the lead instrument, in his musical compilations, which no doubt, attests for the very unique quality and sound of Joseph Patrick Moore's music, and which indeed is the evidence of several of the marks that defines a truly great artist.
After the release of JPM's much anticipated CD, "Thumper", which is expected to be released in early Spring of 2008, plans are already in the works by the agents and execs at the esteemed T&T Management & Booking Agency, (which Joseph Patrick Moore was recently signed to), for an expansive tour to promote this new CD. While Joseph Patrick Moore and band are busy in the studio, the team at T&T Management & Booking Agency are currently seeking and accepting dates with concert promoters and select venues throughout the US, Mexico, Central and South America, Canada, Europe, Japan, as Joseph Patrick Moore and band are looking forward to bringing their music wherever their fans request and demand.
More great news for fans of Joseph Patrick Moore who wish to experience his beyond impressive prowess on bass live. JPM will be performing live this October and early November in
Chris Duarte also performed on the recently released CD, "Freeway Jam - To Beck And Back", a tribute album to Jeff Beck, which also features performances from such greats as Steve Morse, John Scofield, Eric Johnson, Adam Rogers, Mike Stern, Warren Haynes, Greg Howe, Walter Trout, and many more. Needless to say, these dates promise to be some amazingly action packed shows!
Other the elements that mark the greatness of an artist can be clearly recognized via Joseph Patrick Moore's last release, "Decade" released in 2005, (on Blue Canoe Records), which was the celebration and mark of 10 years as a professional touring artist for Joseph Patrick Moore, and featured performances from members of some of the music industry's most celebrated acts such as Jimmy Herring, (Grateful Dead), Jon Chalden, (Sheryl Crow), Yanrico Scott, (Derek Trucks Band), Jeff Sipe, (Susan Tedeschi), Buzz Amato, (Curtis Mayfield), Adam Nitti, (Steven Curtis Chapman), and many other very respected and renown artists. From both the sight of the impressive credits and from the sound of the high caliber of musicianship displayed on this outstanding CD by all of the contributing dynamic and esteemed artists with the pioneering and signature sound of Joseph Patrick Moore at the helm, performing lead on bass; there is no questioning why Joseph Patrick Moore is considered both a favorite amongst fans and true connoisseurs of great jazz, but is also considered a true 'musicians musician' amongst the music industry's elite.
Besides the great artists that performed on Joseph Patrick Moore's CD "Decade", it is a regular event that a number of the esteemed artists on the Blue Canoe record label ask Joseph Patrick Moore to work with them on their CD's as well, either adding his mastery as a musician or adding his talent as a very capable producer. JPM is more than glad to share his prowess and expertise among other members of the musical community, by performing a support role either live or in the studio, and has done so with such artists as Colonel Bruce Hampton and the Blueground Undergrass, Pop artist Michael Tolcher, Chris Duarte and more, as well as JPM enjoying his own successful career in the music industry.
As a music industry exec myself, (Vice President of Mindsweep Entertainment & Promotions, which specializes in and provides PR, press and media relations services, working with many renowned artists, record labels, agencies and others within the music industry, and also working as a booking agent for
T&T Management and Booking Agency, which is one the most well known and respected agencies, and works with most of THE BEST artists in the music industry), it is mind numbing the amount of music I listen to from different artists in the course of any given day, as part of my job(s). Needless to say, it takes nothing less than an exceptional artist with a truly distinct sound, to stop me in my tracks while working, to dig in deep to every note of their CD.
(For me to want to write about them and stake my professional reputation on them, they have to be even beyond exceptional.)
I was quite pleased the day I received Joseph Patrick Moore's CD "Decade", as I was already well aware of his immense talent, but when I popped his CD into the office stereo, (which is connected to a screaming PA system), it exceeded even my expectations of this great artist's work, and indeed the quality of musicianship on JPM's "Decade" stopped me in my tracks at work and thoroughly captivated me from the very first note on the CD to the very last, on this 15 song smoking CD. (As it did the entire West side of
Of course, being that impressed with both the talent and marketability of Joseph Patrick Moore's music, I had to turn my good friend and boss at T&T Management & Booking Agency, CEO, Tony Saldano, on to JPM's CD "Decade" as well. Tony Saldano, being the CEO of one of the top named agencies in the music industry that works with ALL THE BEST in the biz, is an even tougher sell than I am, was also impressed and invited Joseph Patrick Moore to take his place amongst the hundreds of great and legendary performers on the roster at T&T Management & Booking Agency. Mr. Saldano too immediately recognized both the high quality of JPM's music, as well as it's remarkable uniqueness, which is a highly marketable quality besides being one of the marks of a great performer.
JPM's innovative approach of playing lead on bass has also earned him the respect of the 'powers that be' within radio, which has a vast bearing of the success of most artists. Joseph Patrick Moore is receiving a regular and steady amount of airplay on a large number of mainstream, college, internet and satellite radio stations both nationally and worldwide.
Joseph Patrick Moore stated in the interview for this article, that his upcoming CD, "Thumper" will be more focused more on the experimental and contemporary style of Jazz. On the same upcoming CD, JPM's current line up of musicians consists of Kenya Boto on percussion, Ben Taylor on drums, with a guest appearance of Dan Baraszu on guitar, with of course, JPM on bass. Being the musician's musician that Joseph Patrick Moore is though, you never know who will be joining in the making of this CD before it is complete!
When asked about who Joseph's influences are, he stated that Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller and Miles Davis were amongst his many influences.
For more information on truly great artist, Joseph Patrick Moore (and band), one can visit their official website at www.josephpatrickmoore.com or hear their music and more at www.myspace.com/josephpatrickmoore or by visiting www.bluecanoerecords.com.
To purchase Joseph Patrick Moore's CD's, one can do so online at I Tunes, E Music and musicdownloads.walmart.com/ or in stores at Barnes and Noble, Books a Million and Best Buy.
To sum up in short, my personal and professional assessment of Joseph Patrick Moore's musicianship and prowess as a performer, both as an avid music lover and a music industry exec... The man and his band are nothing less than stellar! (And I am not saying that because I am his booking agent, I am his booking agent because he is a TRULY GREAT performer)!
