Unsigned Heaven: The Rise and Fall of The Reason![]()
2007 was a very special year in unsigned Manchester music history, as it was the biggest, best and last year in the life of The Reason - the band who were set to change the face of Manchester music. Merging melodic, Oasis/The Roses-styled indie with a much harder, grittier edge, The Reason were meant, without question, to be the next truly great band on the Manchester music timeline. Sadly, the music industry and real-life got in the way, and their full potential was never quite realised. But, for everyone who was present, their legacy would never be forgotten.
You see, this was unsigned heaven. It was about a band headlining their first gig in the newly-opened Academy 4. It was about the same band going on to headline (and sell out) Academy 3 just a few gigs down the line. It was about a following who felt that something truly life-altering was happening. It was also about a group of young men who, together, made unbelievable music.
This feature-length documentary charts the entire lifeline of The Reason, from their early days locked away in the practice rooms refining their craft to their last gig and subsequent break-up. It is the first film in the 'MiM Unsigned Heaven' series, charting the amazing highs and lows of being in a new band.
