My parents just don't understand what it is?

Have them read this website, especially this FAQ section.
Other than that it's just a bunch of guys playing army.

* (Update 10/14/2007) Have been asked this again and again, so here is another answer.
What we do is not exactly airsoft, call it simulated military operations with airsoft guns.
We hold these scenarios at night, usually on Saturday nights, on a patch of heavly wooded land in Victoria county.
We go out there just after sundown, it's supposed to be in Central America, and it's terrorists vs. American special ops.
We have ambushes, hostage situations, etc. We may encounter trip wires, land mines, all sorts of fun things. We never know if the terrorists will be there or not.
This is a continous scenario. The team is always looking for the terrorists and always have different operations. It's very realistic.

What does it cost to join?

There is no fee, we do this as our hobby.
The only expense would be for any gear you choose to purchase.
(Be sure to read the Mil Sim Gear page)

Where is Mil Sim held?

It is held just outside Victoria, Texas. The exact location is not published so that we are not bombarded with onlookers.

my parents want to come and see what its all about, is that possible?

I'm sorry, but we do not allow spectators, which includes parents, brothers, etc., it's a distraction and takes away from the realism we try to achieve.
Parental concern tells us that they care about you and your activity. We understand and encourage that.
We suggest they read the website, read this FAQ section, email us here with questions, we can even provide names and phone numbers of team members parents if they would like to ask them questions. We do whatever we can to help them understand.

How physical is mil sim; and is it dangerous out there?

1) There is very little physical contact.
You may become exhausted from walking or running and the heat and humidity factor in as well.

2) It's not dangerous, just use caution and common sense as you would in any wilderness area.

No drugs, no alcohol..this is great!

This is not a party. We are very serious about no drugs or alcohol.
That is NOT what Mil Sim is all about.
