Millom Railway & Scale Modellers was founded in 1995 as Millom Railway Modellers, the name being changed later on to take in other forms of modelling such as military, boats etc.  Although the majority of members are currently active in railway modelling in various scales, two of our members are planning to build a diorama to show off their military modelling skills.  Indeed there are a large number of unbuilt military model kits at the club including Tamiya, Airfix etc.  If you're interested why not come along?  If nothing else, it will provide you with somewhere to build and paint your models!

The club has a pedestal drill, reciprocal saw, airbrushes and compressor, soldering equipment, large resistance soldering unit etc that is available for members use.  We will be aquiring a small lathe soon thanks to a kind local benefactor.

A number of our members use DCC on their own layouts and we can fit DCC decoders into any scale from N to O.  Our chairman has fitted a large number of decoders into N gauge models on his micro layout Seavert Road.  If you require help why not pop along on Wednesday or Thursday evenings?

Everyone is different and that's what makes a club so good.  Some members are happy to operate trains or sit and have a brew.  Others like to build kits, make scenery or wire the layouts.  It's all down to the individual.  You can do as much or as little as you like.

You may learn new skills!  You may teach us new skills!

We meet at St. George's Hall, Millom (next to the hospital - just behind the ambulance station) every Wednesday & Thursday from 7pm.

Yet more modelling success for Millom Railway & Scale Modellers during the NGS AGM at Grimsby in late May 2009.  Our Chairman wins the Group B2 for best kit built steam locomotive in the Annual Model Making Competition 2009.

Chesh's model of the LMS / BR Beyer-Garratt that he built for Barrie Tomlinson took the first prize and the Chairmans Shield now resides in this lovely part of glorious Cumbria!  The locomotive was awarded a Bronze award at the 2009 N Gauge Society Annual Model Making Competition and took approximately 10 weeks to complete.  The model was also runner up in the Andy Calvert memorial shield which is awarded to the model that the Society members vote for as the best in show.

This follows on from the success that he and Maurice Chapelhow had in 2007 and 2008.  Maurice Chapelhow took third prize and a bronze award for his model of the complete Coronation Scot in Caledonian Blue.  The models that won the first prizes were exemplary and the standards were extremely high so Maurice has brought great credit to the club!
