The U.S. Army has always been the
backbone of the military, with over 25 million soldiers
serving in all U.S. wars. Many veterans of the
army might have been in artillery or cavalry but the
majority served as infantry, with 77 divisions of
infantry being
mobilized during WWII alone. But, as history has
shown, it can sometimes take such huge amounts of
manpower to win a war and the army has always been there
to provide it.. Army veterans, it
would follow, make up the largest community of any
ex-members of any military branch.
Because of the size and complexity of an organizational
unit such as this, the
U.S. Army has produced great leaders within its ranks.
Names like Washington, Jackson, Harrison, Grant,
Theodore Roosevelt, and Eisenhower eventually rose to
the top as leaders in the army and these are the same
ones who eventually turned their
positions into presidencies. Who knows how many
more future presidents will come from the many army veterans
alive now. |
