IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN! THE SWING BALL COMES TO STOCKPORT!!!
The next charity event from Spinning Firetruck Promotions is SWING BALL 2 1/2 - THE SMELL OF FEAR.
Featuring the best in Manchester rock'n'roll / punk / ska / psychobilly bands, with a few travelling acts to beef up the line-up, the THATCHED HOUSE will be rocking to the swingiest sounds around.
Please come along & give generously, there'll be badges on sale & raffle prizes, and all proceeds go to an extremely worthy cause - the CHRISTIE CANCER HOSPITAL. Check out the bands' Myspace pages, tell all your friends, & we'll see you there for a fantastic evening, with an early finish so you can all get home handy. See, we've thought of everything, so do come down & lend your support.
JUDDER & THE JACKRABBITS (stripped down double-bass punk rock / psychobilly 4-piece from Norwich. Think Send More Paramedics & the Nerve Agents in a face off with Tiger Army & the Nekromantix)
THE SHADOWCOPS (Swing Ball is proud to welcome back Salford's very own rifftastic Husker Du worshippers. Punk'n'roll with hooks that'll cut ya)
REVENGE OF THE PSYCHOTRONIC MAN (fast, honest, punk rock'n'roll from 4 Manchester lads with an Alan Partridge fixation. AH-HA!!!)
SENSE OF URGENCY (Asian Man Records - sign this band! Local ska / punk aceness, a 12-legged skanking machine)
BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK (brand spanking new, 3 girls & 1 boy grungy punk rock, featuring Lindsey ex-Grayson's Hour. Check out their Myspace for vids of their first gig in March '07. Good stuff)
SECTION 47 (Stockport kids hark back to 1977, playing punk / ska / hardcore stuff with a fresh, young sound. Noice)
Start spreading the word, getcha arses to local gigs & tell everyone about this cracking line-up, come along & lend your support on the day, give as much as you can, and have an amazing time. See y'all down there.

SWING BALL 1 - SUNDAY 20TH NOVEMBER 2005 @ ROADKILL BAR, HOPE STREET, LIVERPOOL, L1 9BX (4PM-11PM, TICKETS £6)
THANKYOU SO MUCH EVERYONE!!! On the nite I estimated we'd raised around £200 for Cancer Research UK, it was actually just over £145, but given the circumstances (hastilly arranged new venue, late start, other shows on in the area etc) and the fact it was the debut show for Spinning Firetruck Promotions I feel that it went remarkably well. All bands played a blinder, big shout-outs to the University of Liverpool Big Band and The Fat Cats especially - although all acts were superb - & I look forward to seeing a new batch of converted swing fans at the follow-up show coming up in the New Year.
Anyone disappointed by the eleventh-hour band cancellations don't worry, those involved will be some of the first acts approached with details of SWING BALL TOO.
These are the 8 bands who graced the 1st ever SWING BALL with their presence, big thanks to all the musicians involved. Sign up to their mailing lists, check out their MP3s, buy their merchandise, and help keep UK swing / rock'n'roll alive. Click on the band name for more info...
THE ZATOPEKS ('Buddy Holly's grandchildren', all the way from Berlin...kind of!)
THE FAT CATS ('awesome rockswingpunkabilly, like Rocket from the Crypt meets QOTSA at a Toots and the Maytells house party!')
BUZZKILL (RFTC-style punk'n'roll with horns)
