A how-to guide on painting a case
To start off with, take all the components out of your case so it is empty, then you need to sand it down so you can see the metal (providing it's sprayed metal, unlike some newer dell cases which are metal with thick black plastic clipped on) When you have done that, decide what paint job you are having if you haven't already done so.

If you are having a plain, 1 colour style, all you need to do is give the whole case a layer, wait 5-10 mins and then give it another layer, do this until you have a total of 4 or 5 layers, then leave it for a while (preferably overnight) it is best to so the side panel seperate, that way you have a surface to rest the case on whilst its drying.

If you decide you want a 2 colour spray, you will need to start off with the lighter colour. Lets say you wanted the top half green and the bottom half black with a curvy line to separate the 2 colours, the 1st step would be to spray about 3/4 of the case green (paying most attention to the top half where you want the green) wait 5-10 mins and give it another coat, do this until you have a total of 4-5 coats, you then need to leave it for a while (preferably overnight). The next stage is to mask off where you want the colour split to be, the easiest way to do that is probably to cover the top 3/4 with sticky back plastic (available from most stationary/craft shops) then, cut the line that will separate the colours (with a craft knife, making sure you don't cut too hard) and peel off the bottom part and give it 4-5 coats of black paint, again, leaving 5-10 mins between each one, you can then remove the plastic and you have a custom painted computer!!
