This is a short history of Nintendo for the people who are in that kind of stuff. The company Nintendo actually started out making hanafu cards, but with the video game crash of 1983 Nintendo saw an oppertunity. With most of the other video game companies out of business Nintendo made it's first big video game console the Nintendo Entertainment System or the NES for short, because stores were scared to put video game consoles on their shelves Nintendo advertised their product as a toy instead of a console. They even had a toy robot to go with the console. So it went on the shelves and was an instant hit. The only real compitition the console had was the Sega Master System but that only sold roughly one sixth of what the NES sold. Later Nintendo also developed a portable game systemt called the Game Boy which in it's later form is still popular today. Nintendo's rival Sega also released a portable system the Sega Game Gear but once again didn't do nearly as well it's Nintendo counter-part. The Next generation of video games saw the Super Nintendo and it's compitition the Sega Genisis, and once again saw Nintendo come out on top. Then in the fith gen of video games Sony released it's Playstation, and for the first time Nintendo was beaten in sales. The sixth gen was probably the worst generation for Nintendo. It's Nintedo Gamecube coming in third place in sales being beaten once again by Sony's Playstation and the newcomer Microsoft with it's XBox, also in this generation Nintendo's old time rival Sega dropped out of the video game market due to poor sales. This was a sad time indeed. Nintendo lovers everywhere wondered if the same thing that happened to Sega would happen to Nintendo. But this didn't happen because our current gen saw the coming of the Nintendo Wii which has already passed the Playstation 3 and is rising faster than the XBox 360 so it's looking like the Wii will be passing them too. Go Wii! Go Nintendo! Live on!
