Introduccion to the "Manual of writing in quipus",

  by Miguel Angel Calvo Rodríguez

Dear reader:

I give you the fruit of my intellectual preoccupations about the Inca writing, that is,through the quipus. Quipu or quippu, according to the Collinns dictionary of the English language, is "a device of the Incas of Perú used to to record information, consisting of an arrangement of variously colored and knotted cords attached to a basecord(from  quechua quipu,literally:knot)1

Writing in quipus is not so extraodinary for whom this writes, because he does it daily: for emphasizingdetermined acquired knowledge or for the learning of some foreign languages. A whole objective writing system, which is possible to touch and see, it is a major excitation for the brain and of course for the learning. However, the formation of knots or characters obeys to strict objective laws: there are not casualtness in doing knots. The realization of a quipu is previously determined  by the efficient and final causes that convey to give the precise physiognomy to the knots. So I dare to conclude that in the way that here  it is formulated the quipus. the Incas wrote. Perhaps the knotted characters of this book do not exactlycorrespond to the phonems or concepts used by the quechua quipu-writers(quipucamayocs)2, but this is the secondary. The essential is that this system here exposed is indoubtedly the same that the quipucamayocs used in the Inca Empire.

In this work, I will demonstrate that any language, even one of the most dificcult as the Greek, might be written in Quipus. I have to confess to you, kind reader, that it has not been easy for me to discover  the laws that rule the formation of eidetic or meaningful knots. For it, I have had to create a New logic: the Dialectic constructive logic, that added to Formal logic has let the intellection of the written knotty.

For the guide of the reader, I must say that the work has three parts and one appendix. The first part is a succint exposition of logic technique employed; the second is the construction of the proto-knots and characters; the third is the application of the quipugrams(from quipu and gram:something written or drawn)3 to the writing and translation of languages, and finally the Appendix 1 is destined to the writing of Superior Calculus(integral and differential) by means of Quipus.
