Drama Camps added at Big Red Barn
Drama Camps for Young People
Wondering what to do about this summer? Try our acting camps for ages 8 and up. We will be running three camps this summer at the Big Red Barn in Okemos. The cost of the camps are $75.00 with MMFT actors, Happendance and Okemos Music Academy students receiving a 10% discount ($67.50.
Starting July 18 and running for five days through July 22, Mid Michigan Family Theatre will conduct a drama camp for young people ages 8 and up. The camp will be held at the Big Red Barn which is located at 3448 Hagadorn Road in Okemos, MI, 48864. Additional sessions will be held August 8 – 12 and August 15 – 19.
The goal of the camp is to provide instruction in acting and the theatre process using relevant and interesting topics in an entertaining and educational fashion. Participants will spend the day learning about the production process of theatre through a variety of activities. These will include using the voice and body to create a believable character and have fun with improvisation and theatre games. Students will work with commercials, monologues and scenes to develop their acting skills. They will also use materials that will allow for the understanding of the technical aspect of theatre including costuming, make up, and set design. We will conclude with a camp performance for family members and friends.
Call the theatre (517) 339-2145 to register today.
