Birth of Midlo_Rollin

MidloRollin was created 2003. I originally created this site as a incredibly large extension of my profile on AIM. However, shortly after I got involved in basic web design, and I felt that MidloRollin should become something more than just a profile. I hope you all enjoy what it has become!

History

When MidloRollin was first created, it was mainly a personal site, mainly consisting of random jokes and lots and lots of text. It had pretty horrible design elements like neon red on neon blue (pretty terrible, I know). When I grew out of that whole 'not knowing what the hell I was doing' stage, I started thinking about what kind meaningful content to put in MidloRollin.

As my knowledge of basic web design evolved into a comprehension of pretty dynamic web design, I started noticing that flash games, were a very "hot" item on various websites, and I saw something that I liked. Being a highschooler, a nerdy one at that, I aimed to facilitate games on my website, starting with one or two just on side page. When it became 10 - 20 games on one page, I knew that I would have to manage things ALOT better. I ran into an issue though, internet security and filters.

I saw my enterprise collapsing as each game became blocked, so naturally, like a good lil' teenager, I rebelled. I became a freedom fighter for games, I started studying how the system worked, I developed an obsession with bypassing the security filters put in place by my school's administration. Eventually I became I understood how the system worked, following specific list of keywords that were blocked, staying clear of sites too popular, or too obvious. When my peers became aware of my site, they were thrilled that there was a local designing a website specifically for them. I was an enabler, the more games I put on the site, the more popular it got.

Much to my dismay, not all my peers were "PRO-MIDLO" and were quite infact against what I was doing. They began anonymously submitting my site for review, and it would get blocked. Unaware of my site's oppression, I began creating aliases, alternative domains for MidloRollin. I also began updating my site a massive amount more, adding in all the games I could get my hands on that weren't blocked.

Unfortunately, informing my peers of new aliases became difficult, and ultimately lead to the sites downfall. No one at my school went on MidloRollin much anymore. My school administrator had also expressed her distaste in my actions. MidloRollin was dead, all my work had gone to waste. I graduated from high school looking back on the days where MidloRollin had seemed to be so popular. I even recalled when I had found visitors from different states, and even countries, but the lack of visitors was barely even enough to pity the site's demise.

The Return

A few years later, I returned to MidloRollin, with only a few posts ever since I graduated high school. I enabled a statistics filter, and applied it to all pages. My main page still was receiving its pity 20 hits per day. I woke up the following day to something amazing. The Games page statistics. I had been ignoring an audience that I had long been ignoring, and audience of 12,000 hits a month! My visitors in other states and countries had not abandoned MidloRollin, and furthermore tolerated broken game links. I immediately re-vamped the website to suite my long lost audience. Today MidloRollin flourishes, and appreciates its faithful audience. Thank you!
