Middlebrook Reptiles

Welcome

Hello and Welcome to Middlebrook Reptiles. My name is Tom Middlebrook, I am 17 years old and I am a keen herpteologist. This site is dedicated to Herpteology (the study of reptiles and amphibians). I live in Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire. I have been interested in animals all my life. But over  the past few years my main passion has been reptiles. As i find them amazing, incredible, and very interesting creatures that are unlike other animals. Over the past 4 or 5 years i have been researching and finding out alot of information on reptiles, and i eventually got my first in 2005. I have gained an awful lot of knowledge in general reptile care and information on many species of reptile, amphibian and fish. My collection has grown rapidly over the past couple of years of owning only lizards and newts to keeping snakes.

I hope to expand my collection, and i have even (sadly enough) made a wishlist of my favourite exotic animal species. The ones that i hope to get between the time of writing (September 07) and Christmas of 2008 are Red Eyed Crocodile Skinks, African Fat Tailed Geckos, Underwoodisaurus milii and possibly hognose snakes. I would also at some point like to get Ridge-Tailed Monitors, Picturs Geckos, Blue Tongued Skink, Calabar Ground Pythons, some other python species, more Asian Ratsnake Species and some Exotic Mammals (such as Tenrecs, African Pygmy Hedgehogs and Giant Pouched Rats)

I am currently in 6th form at Chesham High School in Buckinghamshire, studying for my AS levels, in Biology, Geography, Maths and Chemistry, and my current plan is to go to university to study Zoology. I have a Saturday job at a local reptile shop, which is awesome because I get to work with loads of animals I wouldn't be allowed at home (such as sugar gliders, Prehensile Tailed Skinks, Hedgehogs, Giant Gambian Pouched Rats, Caiman, Mangrove snakes etc.) and I get discount on reptile stuff & money to pay for the upkeep of my reptiles and to buy new ones.

I'm very interested in most species of reptile but my favourites are Rhacodactylus Geckos, Rat Snake Species, Tribilonotus skinks, Heloderma species, Eyelid Geckos, Australian Geckos and some of the smaller monitor species

I spend much of my spare time rresearching Reptiles & Amphibians, particularly those who are not often seen for sale and are seldom kept and understood by the majority of reptile keepers.

I made this site to help teach others about my obsession, and to spread my knowledge of reptile to others. Please have a look around. There is a section on my reptiles,  a wishlist, caresheets and a guestbook.

Thanks enjoy!!
