27/01/03 Finally an update. Mickey is in the middle of his European Tour. He was great on Lyrics Board and made an appearance on 'Your a Star' 2 weeks ago. He spoke on 2fm a few nights ago, having just arrived in France and is playin gigs in Cannes, france for the next three nights. In March, Mickey will be touring in Germany, Holland, and America (New York, L.A., and San Diego and the SXSW Festival, in Texas). Sheena, The girl who got to sing live with Mickey at Vicar Street has set up her own website. The address is in the links below. It's got games and quizzes and a 'vicar street diary' so worth a look. It's rumoured Mickey is due to bring out another album in this half of 2004. Mickey Harte has been nominated for a Meteor award, in the Best Irish Male Singer Category. Their will be eighteen awards presented on the night. Text VOTE to 53500 to have your say.(txts cost 60c) In other news...Mickey was voted the best thing to happen in music in 2003 and the 3rd best thing to happen to Ireland. 24/12/03 So sorry for not updating much in the last month or so. Things have been caarrrazy. Make sure u all watch Mickey's appearance on Lyrics Board 2mrw, think it's on at 19.35 RTE1/2. Anyway, I got go snooze, Santa and all..... Us at 'Devoted To Mickey Harte' want to wish all Mickey Harte fans and visitors to the website a very very Jolly Christmas and a Happy, Mickey Harte filled New Year. 19/11/03 Well the single "There Must be Love" has been out for 5 days now but we wont know the real result until Fridays charts show so keep buying all you can. THE QUESTION for the "wanna be a star" competition has finally appeared on the official website so go and enter the competition as many times as you like. Good luck! If you cant be on stage for the Vicar Street gig you may as well go and buy a ticket. We were at his last vicar street gig and it was amazin! heres a tip: Mickey tends to show up to these things pretty late so maybe hang around the lobby a bit before the gig starts (after the support act) and you'll probably bump into him! It happened the last time we were there so its well worth a try.
18/11/03 Mickey made an appearance on the Dave Fanning show tonight reviewing some singles. Amongst the reviewed singles was Simon Caseys. now i must say even by Simons standards the song was awful. We've got nothing against the chap, we wish him luck with his career but we can not encourage the making of such blatently brutal music. Anyway Mickey gave a very sugar coated response given the awkward circumstances (We can appreciate the dificulty of the situation) Mickey basically said the song was a load of bull(which it is).
06/11/03 Mickeys new single will be released in 8 days but theres no news yet as to what b-sides he'll be using. the single cover is posted in the gallery. Hope you like!!
05/11/03 We're really sorry about the delay in updates recently but we've all been kind of busy at school. Anyway mickeys set to hit the charts again soon with his new single there must be love and hes gonna be touring all over the country! but there's even more exciting news!! Mickeys holding a competition to become his backing singers for one song (we've got the world) at the vicar street show in dublin. you also get to stay in a fancy hotel and get a limo to the gig but thats not nearly as important as singing with Mickey on stage. If you win you get to bring two friends with you but you can't enter yet. They will be putting up details on the official Mickey site on november 14th of the question to be answered so keep a look out
17/10/03 Updated the Lyrics page - Now have 'Flow' and 'Practical' and added a picture of Shea McNelis, Mickey's manager on Shea's Page. Huge huge thank you to Bronagh for her help with song lyrics and the Shea photo.
10/10/03 Seemingly Mickey's wife, Louise is 4 months pregnant. Well, so Ryan Turbidy said. Congratulations to them if it's true. There's a new band line-up including new guitarist John Colohan. Picture of Mickey in todays Irish Independent 'Day and Night' Magazine with Hazel something, ex Dove member. 'There Must Be Love' is Mickey's next Single to be released, not til November though :-(
02/10/03 Mickey's been fairly quiet in the papers lately but reviews of his gigs on his Up Close Ireland Tour seem to be positive. We've updated the calender. Some new pics here and there, He appeared on RTÉs 'Sattitude' last Saturday and did a webchat afterwards. 12/09/03 Mickey's no longer top of the album charts :-( We've added a couple of new Articles and Pictures. Fan Story and some 'Shea' information added to the Shea page. Moved all the old news and updates to a page entitled News. The five or so most recent bulletins will be kept on the homepage.
06/09/03 Hasn't been much news lately. Mickey was due to play a charity gig in Daly Park in New york, but just as himself, John and Gary from his band, Shea and the Revs were about to fly from Shannon airport, the emmigration officials stopped them from travelling because they had no visas. The gig was to raise money for a donegal man Michael Duffy who needs 240,000euro to treat his rare form of cancer. 12000euro had been spent by the charity on flights. Mickey is said to be 'gutted' and is trying to organise another trip. The full story as written in The Daily Mirror will be added a.s.a.p. NEW LINK added. 20/08/03 Well Mickey's off to America soon to do a few gigs in NEW YORK!!! Although we'll miss him we want to wish him the best of luck and hope he's a huge success over in the states. Also Mickey's album is still up at no.1 (where it belongs). Even though it's had some strong competition from stars like 'Coldplay' and 'Beyonce' Mickey's managed to outsell them all this week and it's looking likely for next week aswell so if you dont have it yet get out there now and get going!!
15/08/03 Great news! Mickey's album "Sometimes Right, Sometimes Wrong" has gone straight in to the number 1 spot. It's also expected to stay at the top for another few weeks so if you haven't got the single yet go out and get it NOW and do everything you can to support Mickey!!
13/08/03Have added lotsa new pics to our Gallery page from mickeyharte.com More still to be added. made a start on the songwords for album. Tour Dates have been updated. Mickey Harte hopes to rest for the last couple of weeks of August and is travelling to the U.S.A in September.
APPEARANCES
The first time we saw Mickey Harte in the flesh was when he came to our town on March 28th and performed in a little pub. The place was packed with 200+ people, mostly female. The night was amazing, we were right against the stage, so close that we could touch his hair and luvly green guitar! He played and sang around 15 songs, finishing with 'We've got the World' and 'Teenage Kicks' The atmosphere was amazing, he's a brilliant performer and gets the audience involved.
On last Tuesday, the 22nd of May, Mickey recorded his video in the Ambassador in Dublin. We had e-mailed shinawil productions and got passes to the event. We arrived early and were allowed in @ around 6pm. Mickey sang the song once and then we were let into the audience to sing along with him. Again, we were right up the front. Maria got to chat with him, while he was on stage. Plus, we knew the words to some of his own songs from the last gig so he called out to us!! Afterwards on our way out, we met him standing in the Lobby. He signed our arms and paper. (Ive no scanner to show u) and we chatted to him. He's such a nice chap! Thanks shinawil!
Friday 09/05/03: Woohoo! We went to see Mickey in Vicar Street last night! He was brilliant...Us three and another big Mickey fan, Sarah, were sitting three tables away from the stage. He sang really really good songs. Did one with some violinist, it was beautiful. Then he did a song he always plays where we gotta remember 3 words. We knew them and shouted before he got the chance and he said, "hey, you've been at my gig before" then he said something like "you're my family" (!!!!!) Then we were all shouting at the drummer, we always do that, and they were all laughing and he said "oh, these are Gary's groupies" Then we knew all the words to one of our favourite songs of his "Red Bull and Vodka Song" and we stood up and sang along, everyone was staring. But he was happy! Sarah got the bass guitar guys autograph. And we got Darren Smiths autograph & photo (1 of de judges from Your a Star) and close up photo of Brian Ormond. We got lotsa pics of Mickey on stage. One with his top off. ***Ruth Scott, Mickey Harte has extremely Hairy Chest - DOES NOT WAX*** However we didnt get a chance to chat with him again. There were at least 800 people there. It was a really good perfomance. We're dying to go to gig in Galway!
