  Modest Mansa Moneybags

- Part 1-

“It is 4000BC and the world sees the rising of a new leader. He is officially called Mansa Musa, although his people call him Moneybags behind his back. He’s known to have only one interest and that’s shiny things. It is said he shouts out during his dreams at night, something about the catching the blinky stuff in the night’s sky……

Mansa Musa doesn’t care of land, sheep or cows, he’s modest that way and likes to call himself such, but finally his people convince him it’s better to settle down and build a village. He agrees on the condition that his scientists find out

how to make shiny things to show off to the world. And so the story starts.”

Research is set to Currency right at 4000BC

The warrior is going off to find out about the lay of the land, when he stumbles on some large cats that carry flags! Luckily he can hide in the forest, so he can successfully kill them when they attack and continue his quest.

The brave warrior meets Huayna Capac in 2880 BC and Washington in 2760 BC.

In the meantime our capital has reached the happy-cap. It works only improved tiles and generates quite some nice shiny coins. As you can see soon Modest Mansa will be able to get to make the shiny coins even sooner by building the library.

After that it’s time to expand further. Probably should have done that sooner, but all that commerce not going to be used…..

In 1640 BC his first dream becomes reality. Modest Mansa can use coins. Now how to get more. First we need more cities. Djenne is founded near the goldmines. This will become a great center for commerce and it will have some decent production as well.

They other civs we’ve met sure took a different path for research. So alphabet will be researched next so we can trade some of it and catch up on that front. The first offer Washington makes will not do. It costs way too much of the precious gold coins, and why trade for Mysticism when we can find out ourselves in 2 turns?

In 700 BC we found our first own religion, of which more will come.

Around the start of the counting of years, Modest Mansa meets the other civilizations of the world. These are found by a courageous workboat, travelling all around the world.

Let’s find out how we are doing compared to the rest. This looks rather reassuring.

Off course this will cause envy in the world and sooner or later others will want a piece of what we have. And yes, Cathy is the first to make a demand, only 25 years after we’ve met. (1 turn). Although friends are good, possessing more than others is better, so Modest Mansa decides to never be bullied around.

Modest Mansa was already preparing the festivities around the grand opening of the Parthenon, only to find out somebody build it 1 year before him. So it wouldn’t be appropriate to put up a grand show, luckily Modest Mansa could reclaim some of the coins already spent.

In 580 AD the scientists found out about a new religion, Taoism. Who says scientists aren’t religious?

After some years of peace and modest expansion Modest Mansa builds the Notre Dame to make his people even more happy.

Another important event happened that year. Our brave workboat sailed all the way around the world and it took only around 2000 years to do so.

In 1200 AD our scientists find out about the last religion, Islam, and more years of peace follow. In 1410 AD Modest Mansa builds another shrine to the coins, which results in even more of the wonderfull stuff. Time to build all of them Confucianism-buildings that can create coins.
