Chapter 1 - 'A Wake Up Call' ~ He talks about noticing his Parkinson's symptoms for the very first time, whilist working on Doc Hollywood. He was disoriented, and had a hangover due to the events the night before. He was at a bar with his Doc Hollywood co-star Woody Harrelson, and had a druken-slap fight. It moves on to talking about how his films, Bright Lights, Big City, The Hard Way, and Casualties of War didn't perform in the box office, but it didn't worry him too much, because of the continuation of Family Ties, and then Back to the Future Parts 2 and 3. He mentions going to lots of doctors about his trembling of his finger and he was finally diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.
Chapter 2 - 'The Escape Artist' ~ Michael talks about his family. They'd always move around a lot because his father was in the army. He says about his childhood and growing up. When he was born, his mother called him Michael, but his grand -mother [Nana] didn't like it because everyone would call him "Mike" instead. When he was a toddler, he would always find a way to escape/run away from home. He also says that he stole $20 from his mum's purse to buy candy. He changes his middle name [Andrew] to J. because there was already a Michael A. Fox in the actors guild. he also didn't want it to sound like Michael Eh? Fox since he was Canadian. so he changed it to J. meaning Jenius or Jenuine.
Chapter 3 - 'Hollywood High' ~ This is all about his acting career including playing a ten year old kid in the show "Leo and Me" when he was 16 years old and about how difficult it was to get into Family Ties because of his height. There are details about the Back To The Future Triology, Eric Stoltz was casted as Marty before he was. He would work on Family Ties during the day, and BTTF at night. He'd only get a few hours of sleep, and then he had to work again.
Chapter 4 - 'Lost In The Fun House' ~ He talks about being in London for an Awards show for BTTF, and he sat beside Princess Diana... Later on, he met Cher by an elevator, and introduced himself to her and she said "I know who you are... I'm famous. You, not so much."
Chapter 5 - 'Reality Bites' ~ Alot in this chapter is about his Alcohol problem. Since he had Parkinsons, he was in denial and he would isolate himself from his family. His marriage wasn't doing so well, and he would always wonder if Tracy still loved him despite his disease. Michael continued to drink and would sneak wine behind Tracy's back. One day he woke up in the morning. He was supposed to take his sam camping, he was too disorented, and Tracy got upset. She asked him if this was the way he wanted to live his life. He then stopped drinking.
Chapter 6 - 'Year of Wonders (The Real Secret of my Real Success)' ~ He talks about getting a phsychiatrist. Her name is Joyce, and basically he discusses any problems he had, with her. Later in the chapter he talks about keeping his disease secret. It would only be known to family and close friends. He wouldn't even tell co-stars at the time, in fear of not being accepted for a role. He talks about his son Sam too... Sam asks why his dad's hand keeps wiggling, and Michael explains how it wiggles by itself. He explains how one part of his brain that "talks to his hand doesn't work too great." and he says that if he "takes a pill it can fix the broken part of his brain for a while."
Chapter 7 - 'Like A Hole In The Head' ~ He talks about getting brain surgery and would have to shave off his hair, and be "awake" while being operated on. They need him to be awake to answer questions and stuff, but he would have "liquid valium" so he wouldn't really feel any pain, and would not remember much of the operation. The purpose of the operation was to replace brain cells in the affected area.
Chapter 8 - 'Unwrapping The Gift' ~ He talks about the On and Off Phenomenon; it's basically when he is "on" medication, he can function properly; but when he is "off" medication, he cannot function properly, he goes out of control. He even shows a sample of his handwriting during "on" and "off" medication. Lastly, he talks about going public with his disease. Despite everyone knowing that he has this disease, he can still act on Spin City, and make everyone laugh.....READ TO FIND OUT MORE!!!
