Detailed Plot:

There has been another death in Fairwater, over 30 people have died of heart attacks but are perfectly healthy. The most recent attacker is been buried and Frank Bannister attends the funeral and gets thrown out. He drives away and crashes into a fence and the owner, Ray is given his physchic investigator card. The deaths seem connected to a man called Johnny Bartlett that died years ago, 15 year old Patricia Bradley was in love with him and was connected with the deaths also.

Doctor Lucy Lynskey visits a house, the woman lives there called Patricia, she is terrorised by her mother and she has never left the house. The old woman warns Lucy that her daughter Patricia cannot be trusted and she is a murderer. Lucy goes home to tell her husband, Ray (the man who had his gate recked) all about what she had seen. Strange things keep happening to the couple so they call Frank to come and check out the house. Ray is not happy with the 'con man' in the house. Lucy insists that they pay for the house to be checked over by Frank. Ray thinks that Frank is a nut.

Bannister sees the number '37' engraved in Ray's head and nobody else can see it but him. Frank is really worried but Ray thinks he is kidding and throws him out of his house. Frank talks to 2 ghosts, who he uses to scare people, so they will call him, and he will get money, non of them put the number in Ray's head so they are confused in who did. He also keeps another ghost called The Judge, who is very old and loosing his jawbone.

The two ghosts visit a rich family and they make some strange things happen so that they call Frank, and he makes more money from death. Nobody else can see the ghosts but Frank, because he saw his wife die in a car crash, enabling him to see ghosts. He visits the gazette to complain about his name in the paper, warning people that he is a con man. He sees Lucy drive past in a funeral car and he sees Ray's ghost. It turns out that he is dead and only Frank see him. Ray also had his heart squeezed out, like the other 36 deaths, so there is a strange connection.

Frank goes to Ray's funeral and sees Lucy and how upset she is at the loss of her husband. Sheriff Walt is at the graveyard and he sees Frank acting strangely and gets suspicious. Lucy believes that Frank can really talk to ghosts and she asks for messages from Ray. He becomes the messenger between the two and they go out for a meal. Frank and Lucy start to bond and he stops passing the correct messages on from Ray and he makes things up.

Frank goes to the men's room and there is one other man in there, with a number '38' engraved in his head. The man gets attacked in the bathroom and Frank is the only one that sees what happens because he can see ghosts. An evil spirit rips out the mans heart, just like the other deaths. Frank follows the spirit out of the restaurant. The police think that Frank is the murderer because he was there at the same time, so they try to find him to bring him to the station. Lucy is called in for questioning and she meets a very creepy agent called Milton, who is an 'expert' with paranormal deaths. Milton hates Frank and he turns Lucy against him, by saying he murdered his wife, Debra. He talks about a missing utility knife engraved 'F.B', which was never found and Debra had '13' engraved in her forehead.

Frank witnesses another two deaths with '39' and '40' in their heads. He tries to save the woman but is accused of her death. Frank goes to the station to report that Magda's body is in his car. Frank is arrested and he convinces Lucy that he is coldblooded and fake but she still doesn't believe him. Milton turns Frank against himself and, he tells Milton about the things he has seen. Frank shakes and has a nervous break down about all the nasty things Milton says.

Lucy goes to Frank's house to search, she overhears a phone message from Patricia's mum asking for help because Patricia is communicating with the dead, so Lucy goes back to the house, the ghost of Ray following her. Patricia convinces Lucy that she isn't the person that everyone accuses her of been, but then Lucy finds the knife engraved 'F.B'. Lucy goes to visit Frank and she tells him that she's found his knife and she tries to help him. Frank sees a number '41' on Lucy's head and he tries to save her from the evil spirit. Frank and Lucy escape and make a run for it.

Frank decides that the only way to save her is for him to die and his spirit to kill the evil spirit. They think of an easier way, Frank is put in a freezer and Lucy has to revive him within 20 minutes or he will die. His body tempreture slows down and a spirit is released. Milton stops her from reviving Frank because he wants him dead. He ties Lucy into his car and drives away leaving Frank in spirit form. Frank is trying to stop the evil spirit from crushing Lucy's heart but she needs to get back within 10 minutes or Frank will die. Frank's spirit is driving the car, and she unties herself with 3 minutes left. The evil spirit is the dead Johnny Bartlett and he is killing everybody for revenge. Lucy makes it in time and lets Frank out of the freezer before Frank has time to destroy Johnny.

Lucy goes back to find Patricia, she tells Lucy that Johnny haunts her but it turns out Patricia can see ghosts too and they are working together to kill people. Johnny kills and Lucy engraves the numbers into them. Lucy finds Patricia's mother dead and then Patricia tries to kill her with a knife. Frank comes and they find Johnny's ashes, they have to get them to the chapel to finally get rid off him, but with a maniac agent Milton trying to kill Frank, a mad Patricia trying to shoot them both and an evil Johnny still on the loose, will they get there?
