Smushed Fries = Love
By: Michaela and Morgan
A/N: What if Dean hadn't interrupted Lorelai and Luke in A-Tisket A-Tasket? We'll find out. Lorelai's POV.
Disclaimer: We own nothing but our part of an exclusive GGSiST Club. You know you're jealous.
CHAPTER ONE:
LUKE: So the participation in this thing was purely for home improvement reasons?
LORELAI: Yes. And I don't know.. it's a nice concept.
LUKE: What is?
LORELAI: Just having someone who you love or have some kind of crazy crush on bid on your basket and then share a romantic lunch, it's a nice concept.
LUKE: Well, I'm sure someday you'll manage to find the right guy and drag him out to this thing and make him by your stupid basket and then you'll be sitting out here with him.
LORELAI: Yeah, someday.
LUKE: You know what?
LORELAI: What?
LUKE: This is nice.
I rolled my eyes and smiled.
"Hey, I'll eat a carrot.." I began. His face was priceless.
"..If you eat a French fry."
"Ah," was all he said. His face looked a little doubtful.
"What? Don't you think I'm trustworthy?" Luke gave a resigned sigh and held a carrot out to me. Our fingers brushed and I paused, as a small tingle spread from my hand throughout my whole body. Our eyes locked and I felt a blush spread across my face.
"What the hell?" I thought. "It's only Luke..but God, he is beautiful.."
I was startled by the sound of Luke shifting his body and clearing his throat.
"Umm Lorelai.. Not that I want it too badly, but you do owe me a French fry."
I took the largest fry I could find and held it out to him. For the second time in two minutes (had it really only been two minutes?) our hands touched.
This time our eyes locked for more than a couple seconds. Before I knew what I was doing, I was inching closer to Luke, which wasn't easy considering the picnic basket in between us. The expression on his face told me he was confused, but then again, he wasn't backing away either. He moved his hand from the fry to my own, clasping our fingers together. The poor fry was crushed in the process.
I was vaguely aware of the fact that we were in the town gazebo and anyone could see us, but I was mainly focused on the fact that Luke's hand was holding my own and our faces were a mere two inches apart.
To be continued...
