2008 Show Season

Our 2008 summer was a fairly active one.  It started out with a clinic in Antigonish with Clinician Ralph Hamilton from North River, NS.  We had 10 participants and a couple auditors.  The main focus of the clinic was on pleasure driving.  We went then into the show season with 3 shows sanctioned by the Miniature Horse Association of Nova Scotia. The first was a two day show and it was held at the Antigonish Exhibition Grounds on James Street in Antigonish on June 14th and 15th. There was a variety of classes including confirmation, novice driving, pleasure driving, roadster, barrels, poles, obstacles, jumping, a couple team classes as well as a mens and ladies pleasure driving and an adult wait and see class. There was 28 entries at the show.  The weather was cool and damp on Saturday, but Sunday turned out to be a very nice day

  • Grand Champion Halter horse went to Marion Hart with Nice N Easy Lynn's Dream. She was presented with a beautiful green beaded halter donated by Falmouth Farms.
  • Reserve Champion was awarded to Darryl Green and Double D Krakker Jax and he received a green halter with leather inlays donated by Green's Miniature Horse Farm.
  • High Point Adult was awarded to Kim Horton and Atlantic Jemstone with a total of 30 points.
  • High Point Youth was awarded to McKayla Green and Gentle Ben with a total of 13 points
  • High Point Junior was awarded to MacKenzie Murphy with Sout's Lil Buckshot with a total of 5 points

The second show was the Hub Town Show and this year it was held at the Wallace Miniature Horse Farm on Upper Brookside Road in Truro on July 26th.  The weather for that one day show started out with a few light showers but the skies brightened and it turned out wonderful. There was a small breeze in the air that kept it from getting too hot. There was the usual variety of classes with a stake class for Roadster and the Gerald Bowlin Memorial Pleasure Driving Stake as well as a couple team classes. There were 26 entries came out for that show.

  • Jeannie MacLean won the second annual Gerald Bowlin Memorial Pleasure Driving Stake and this year she did it with Huskers One Elite Empire Maker.
  • Grand Champion Halter horse went to Pat Sheehy and JEM Hail to Bobby
  • Reserve Champion was awarded to Jeannie MacLean and Oceanbreeze Pretty Please
  • High Point Adult was awarded to Jeannie MacLean and Huskers One Elite Empire Maker with a total of 26 points
  • Reserve High Point Adult was awarded to Kim Horton and Atlantic Jemstone with a total of 25 points
  • High Point Youth was awarded to Stuart MacLean and Iles Delta Deah with a total of 31 points.
  • Reserve High Point Youth was awarded to Alyssa Hardy and Ocean Breeze Princess Leah with a total of 13 points.
  • High Point Junior was awarded to Kandice Smith and Molly's Bozeman's Cookie with a total of 5 points

Our third and final show was the Oxford Show held at the indoor arena at the Oxford Exhibition grounds in Oxford on September 6th.  The weather was beautiful.  There was a couple open stake classes added to the usual class list as well as a novice pole bending class.  With only 13 entries at that show there was not a lot of pressure at tack change time and this made for a very relaxed show.

  • Grand Champion Halter Horse went to Ron Wallace and RRR Sugar Boys Burnin Smores
  • Reserve Champion Halter Horse went to Kandice Smith and
  • High Point Adult was awarded to James McNutt and Harley with a total of 35 points.
  • Reserve High Point Adult was awarded to Kim Horton and Atlantic Jemstone with a total of 31 points.
  • High Point Youth was awarded Lyndsay Huybers and NS Sherwoods Sugar Plum with a total of 10 points.
  • High Point Junior was awarded to Kandice Smith and Molly's Bozemans Cookie with a total of 11 points.
  • Reserve High Point Junior was awarded to MacKenzie Murphy with Sout's Lil Buckshot with a total of 6 points.

Our next function will be the end of the year banquet and Annual Christmas party.  More information will be posted soon.
