We serve the teen community of Brookline, Massachusetts, a suburban area four miles west of Boston. With approximately 85% of its high school graduates planning to attend college of one kind or another, Brookline is a forward-thinking kind of town with forward-thinking kinds of teens. So shouldn't their library be the same?
This is the first floor, what we might call the "social" floor. Think of this as a "library as dorm lounge" sort of space. Not a quiet place! Modern but comfy.
The second floor is the "study" floor, a wide open space with lots of natural lighting. Quiet and peaceful, for those who want to read, get something done, or just sit and daydream. Something between your den and your indoor porch. (P.S. check out the fountain and the balcony!)
Welcome to the stacks! No cold forest of shelving here; browse bookstore-style shelves in a hobbit-hole of comfort and coziness.
