Mets Project

Columns Prospect Analysis, and so much more......

NEW HOME!!!!!!!!!

t's in it for the long-run- www.prospectpit.blogspot.com

Before my loyal readers chop my head off, let me assure you there’s no reason to worry:

I’m most likely done with Mets Project, but I have taken on a new job at Flushing University which is targeting an official launch date Feb. 16th. There, my writing will be noticed a lot more instead of on my site where I have no domain name. In addition, I will be covering exclusively the minor leagues, and many of my freewebs articles will eventually get posted on there. So really, there’s no monumental difference. My first article should be posted on the site on Tuesday, barring technical difficulties, (which is exactly why they’re waiting out for an official launch date,) and that should remain my weekly spot but you never know how things might take off. Last but not least, since I understand my readers have been waiting almost a week for some new content, my first article posted on Tuesday will be brand new instead of me transferring one from my freewebs site. However, feel free to email me with any questions at all, and I will respond to nearly all of them.

Sincerely,

Mets Project

Site News:

2/6/07- Forgive me if you see a blank page at one point during the next few days, I’m simply trying out little add-ons and widgets, to make sure they work. Thanks.

2/2/07-I’m currently working on my Top 50 Prospect List which will include prospects from all-around baseball and all players will include a comprehensive analysis reminiscent of that of my prospect analysis. Expect this to be released sometime next week.

1/31/07 I have recently received a few emails which not only offered comments on my website, but also with questions about Mets minor league players. In an effort to enhance my site, I’m going to start an emailbag. Simply, if you have a question, contact me at my address provided above, and there’s a good chance you will be featured in that day’s emailbag. The chances of your question being posted and the amount of times I will run this feature will depend on how many emails I receive. SO PLEASE!!!! Show no hesitation to email me!!!!!!

1/29/07 As many of you know, the past few days I have sent many emails to other baseball websites looking for help promoting mine, since, as a kid, I have limited advertising resources. Nearly all of you gratefully responded. As stated in my emails, all of you will be placed under my metsproject approved section. I’m currently working on enhancing that section in order to have readers have an easier time finding your site. By the way, I’m somewhat of a klutz, so if I emailed you and you notice your website is not yet posted, I probably forgot. Please, show no reluctance in emailing me if you notice this.

Sincerely,

Mets Project

About Mets project

Metsproject is part of an on-going project of a specialized  class I’m taking that focuses in on journalism and communications. I’m a diehard and exceedingly zealous teenage Mets fan. I felt I always more knowledge than the average fan, and that my writing, even at my slender age, could go farther than a few good grades. Consequently, I only got into reading baseball blogs about a year ago, when my blood thirsty obsession like that of an angry pack of wolves for a juicy trade rumor became apparent. After reading those, they were without a doubt reliable sources, but simply covered the day to day team as a whole. When I decided to use a freewebs space as my focus, a Mets blog wasn’t my first idea that came to mind. Instead, I chose to something not so much original, but something different. Therefore, my website is developed to the Mets minor league system and the myriad of prospects that inhabit it. Of course, even when you have a novel idea, you probably have questions about how you are going to exploit that theory. One question you might ask is; “We already have some reliable minor league sources, like Baseball America and Project Prospect, so why read this instead?” The wording may sound a little pert if not obnoxious, however you wan to put it, but it’s a realistic question that even I ask myself. I’m not looking to outdo any other website or reach a certain number of visitors, because with my limited marketing techniques, that would be alien to the website’s nature. The idiosyncratic difference is that my website is developed to the Mets prospects and just the Mets Prospects.

Another question you might ask is; “Don’t most fans that read most blogs about the Mets already know about Mike Pelfrey and Lastings Milledge?” The answer? You’re right most fans do. Consequently, the only time I will do an in-depth analysis of any player along those lines is if I’m doing some type of comparison or a column that fits multiple prospects. In addition, my analysis that focuses in on a single player will not be a picayune player, but simply one that I feel has some type of role on the Big League team.

So, I’ll wrap this up with a preview of what’s come. I will have a few columns and prospect analysis as the backbone as my website. My goal is that within one month, I should be able to provide some comprehensive info about the Mets farm system. Ultimately, if anything, it should be some type of an encyclopedia. (Sorry, I won’t get that far.) However, once the season begins, the analysis and columns will decrease diminutively as my focus will shift to other pages which will provide coverage of the New Orleans Zephyrs, the GCL Mets, and everyone in between. For example, some links you will notice like prospect hot sheet are not available. By the way, there will barely be any gossip on this site because, frankly, I live a rather boring life. Of course, if you do want to read about my personal life, you should check out, www.freewebs.com/liberalgeek. One thing beware; on both websites, I’m either too lazy or lethargic if not haughty and supercilious to simply take the time to do spell check. The weird thing is, typos really bother me, whether in books or articles on the internet. In conclusion, Let’s Go Mets!!!
