The Metroid Show is a series of videos made using Metroid Prime Hunters for the Nintendo DS. The cast acts out scripts written by crew members. A cameraman films it and edits it and a voice actor records the voices of the characters in the episode to later be added to the video clips. After this process, the video is finished and ready to be seen by everyone. This is called machinima (muh-shin-i-muh). The Metroid Show was created in June 2006 and continues to make new episodes now.
It started as experiment, then grew into a hobby.
Video:
Using the Nintendo DS, Metroid Prime Hunters, and IM or local friends, we made the show by having the hunters do specific actions to be recorded and edited. To make a regular looking episode, we go into Survival match (with at least 3-4 players), then the cameraman kills himself until he is out of lives, then we use THAT view to record all the other hunters. The cameraman also gets different angles of the hunters to make it more realistic. There are also added bonuses where you can take cutscenes from the game and put them in the episode OR using the first person view of a hunter to give some effect. Once the cameraman has what he needs, he takes to a video editor and gets the film edited with the voices and footage. Once that's done, it is ready to b uploaded to the web.
Voices:
Using a program like Windows Sound Recorder or Audacity (recommended), use a microphone and record your voice to the program, edit it if you have to, then finally you save it to the computer. If you were doing multiple lines, record one line at a time and then save it all into one folder. Then once you are done send it to the Video Editor.
