How to Get to Camp Shaw-waw-nas-see

From the Chicago area:

  1. Take I-57 south to Manteno exit #322.
  2. Turn right (west) onto County Road 9000N.
  3. Go 7 miles to County Road 6000W.
  4. Turn left (south) onto 6000W.
  5. Go 2.5 miles to camp entrance on left.

From the northwest area (Rockford, etc.):

  1. Take I-39/US51 south to I-80.
  2. Take I-80 east to I-55.
  3. Take I-55 south to first Wilmington exit.
  4. Turn left (east). Go to Illinois Route 53 (3 miles).
  5. Go through Wilmington; follow Route 53 to the second stoplight.
  6. Turn left (east) onto Illinois Route 102 at stoplight.
  7. Go 10 miles to 4-H Camp Road (County Road 6000W-- Camp road is 1 mile past Warner Bridge Road).
  8. Turn left (north) onto 4-H Camp Road 6000W.
  9. Go to camp entrance on right.

From the southwest area (Bloomington-Normal, etc.):

  1. Take I-55 north to the Braidwood exit.
  2. Turn right (east) and go until the road T’s off.
  3. Turn left and go to the next stop sign.
  4. Turn right and cross the railroad tracks. This is Illinois Route 113.
  5. There is another stop sign just past the tracks. Go straight on Warner Bridge Road.
  6. Turn left at the stop sign and cross the Kankakee River.
  7. At the stop sign turn right onto Illinois Route 102.
  8. Go one mile and turn left onto County Road 6000W.
  9. Go to camp entrance on right.

From the south/southeast area (Champaign-Urbana, etc.):

  1. Take I-57 north beyond Kankakee.
  2. Exit at Manteno (exit #322).
  3. Turn left (west) onto County Road 9000N.
  4. Go 7 miles to County Road 6000W.
  5. Turn left (south) onto 6000W.
  6. Go 2.54 miles to camp entrance on left.
